Topic: RE: can't lose
I had surgery nov 2,2004 and have lost 80 pounds. You are doing better than me. I have been in the same boat as you are now. Up the water, protein and make sure when you work out you really work out. don't waste time half doing it. Be encouraged and it will happen.

I had my surgery Nov 8th, and have the same problem. Except I still have 75 pounds to lose. I eat about 700 to 1100 calories a day but usually under 1000. I go to the gym 3 times a week, and exercise with videos at least 2 times a week. I haven't lost anything in a month, except the same 5 pounds up and down. When I up my water I have fluid retention. I get hungry soon after I eat. Sometimes I do stay satisfied for a while but most of the time I am hungry again. I have a problem with carbs at work, but have decided to really get down to business again. I have a freind who had surgery the same time that I did and she eats all the time, or so everybody says, and she is still losing. There was a post a while back about a plateau buster diet, but it is way more than I am eating now. I wish you the best of luck and if you figure something out please let me know too. I have heard that this is normal as the body needs to catch up. But I have been losing slow for a while now and it should be caught up. LOL
Topic: can't lose
Hi,
My surgery was November 29th, I started out at 260 lbs with a BMI of about 42. I am almost 7 months post op,,,,,,, consider myself a very slow loser as i have only lost 74 lbs, and have been bouncing with two lbs for the last month.
Seems the more my weight stands still the more i find myself wanting to eat out of frustration.
I find if i really really watch what i eat , exercise and drink my water i still lose NOTHING........ so then i get frustrated all over again.
I feel like 74 lbs in almost 7 months is not that great to begin with and now to be standing still is driving me nuts.
I dont want to finished........ I want to lose at least another 30 lbs.
How do i get off this cycle,,,,,,,,, i am getting so depressed.
I also find myself getting hungrier as the weeks go by.....
I dont eat alot at one sitting but i get hungry continually throughout the day and find myself beginnng to think about food again.
Any advice would be appreciated.
thanks

Yes, it got very thin! I've now got some regrowth (about an inch) which is interesting because of the short regrowth, it's making my hair look fuller and it's easier to fix! I might have to get it "thinned" regularly for it to appear to be full!! Did that make sense? The little short hairs are pushing up the other hair... get it? Kind of hard to explain here!
So anyway, I'm having really good hair days lately!

I also find I eat very little in the a.m. I can usually eat a small salad or fruit and cottage cheese for lunch. Other days I can eat more. I still have a hard time with pasta, rice and bread. I just think they're are days that you can eat more than others. I think you are doing great!! Keep up the good work!

I have been eating about 8 oz per meal, and then 1 or 2 oz snacks in between. I can eat a lean cuisine meal but I get the ones lower in carbs - no pasta, rice, potatoes. I find for me that the carbs weigh very heavy in my pouch - uncomfortable almost - not worth it to me. I think if you are continuing to lose weight then continue doing what you are doing, as long as your doctor says its ok! I have lost 91 lbs since 11/11 and my weight loss has slowed dramatically in the past weeks, but it is still going. I only have 9 lbs to goal and I feel great! I am so thankfull that I had this surgery!
God bless you and keep you,

Congrats on the 100 pds. lost!! Thats great!
As far as my food choices go, I seem to do o.k I think....I eat what I make for the family just WAY less...Last night for example I made steak on the grill with potatoes and green beans. I had a slice of steak maybe the length and width of my finger and instead of potato and beans I had a small tossed salad. I would rather eat the salad anyway. It sits well with me for the most part. I still have a very hard time with pasta, rice or breads. I stay away from sugar as much as possible. I even find the sugar alcohol gives me very bad gas and/or stomach problems if I eat to much. I do well with other meats and have just been able to eat chicken the last few months. My weight loss has slowed down a bit but I am still losing...so I'm not complaining. Hope I could help!

I eat normal foods for the most part although I dont eat the bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, refined sugar, etc... Like for dinner if I make london broil, mashed potatoes and green beans I just have the london broil and green beans. I eat a lot of fruit - gotta love them summer fruits - strawberries, canteloupe, pineapples, YUM!! I probably eat about 8 oz of food at a sitting. I have had some bread in the form of wraps or pizza (I take a few bites of the wrap or pizza and then pick out the insides or the cheese off the top) - I also like Taco Bell's bean burrito (again, I waste a good portion of the tortilla it is wrapped in). I can say with assurance that I am satisfied with what I eat, I do not wish I could have this or that (for the most part - once in a while I feel an "awe I wish I could have that" moment, but then I look at what I am wearing and how I look and how I feel and say - "NO WAY - not worth it!!" I have lost 91 lbs and I have 9 lbs to go to goal! These past few lbs are coming off slower and slower but they are coming off. But hey, even if I stop right where I am I am so thankful!
God bless you and keep you,
~Andrea
