Can't believe it's been so long since my surgery of 11/4/05. I had the lapband and have done fantastic with it. I'm down 191 lbs to date. I started out at 334 lbs and in a size 26/28 (tight) and now down to around 142 and in a size 10 (loose) OMG!!! I never thought I would loose this much weight. I was told when I had the lapband that I would probably lose 100 lbs or so and to expect to weigh around 170 at the least. WRONG! It was the best thing I ever did! Hugs! Suzanne

my new life began! 11-2-04 RNY surgery. What a difference. I am 158 pounds lighter and below my personal goal. There have been so many ups and downs but worth it all the way. 2-14-06 I had an extended abdominoplasti and although more painful than I ever expected that was worth it too. What a pleasure to take a walk and not get all sweaty under all the abdominal skin and not have the skin hitting my thighs everytime I take a step! God is good!

1. Is anybody still losing??? I lose about 1 or 2 pounds every other month or so. I am working to drop at least 10 more in the next 3 months though for a cruise. So I am up'ing my excerise and protien. 2. Does your life feel very busy??? Some days I can't slow down and others I am still a lump on the couch. 3. Are you more assertive??? Oh yeah. It kinda ****** some people off at work but whatever. I was way too quiet in my previous life. 4. Do you have new goals?? Yup, plastics. A tummy tuck and a boob lift are in my future. 5. What comlications have you had?? I had a stricture early on that went undiagnosed and caused me alot of issues. Once that was taken care of, life has been grand.

Topic: 18 MONTHS!!!!!
Can you believe it?!!! This is now becoming a way of life for most of us. Couple of things on my mind..... 1. Is anybody still losing??? (I have been surprised that I still am... not by leaps or bounds but a lb or two a month...I'm weighing less frequently, but only because I just don't think about it as much! ) 2. Does your life feel very busy??? (I am noticing that there were a number of things I would have probably never tried when I was SMO... somehow I am truly reborn and trying to do catch up for all those things I missed! I just chosen from a nationwide group of applicants for a special program sponsored by J&J Pediatrics and the Nursing Honor Society... can't say I would have even applied before??? I am not as petrified by the thought of press photographs!!!) 3. Are you more assertive??? (I find myself speaking up more and bringing up issues that I might have kept silent on before... of course this means I am also getting a lot more negative feedback because not everyone always agrees with you... however on the plus side, I have never gotten so many compliments either!!! - and not ones that are appearance related 4. Do you have new goals?? (Yes, and almost too many to get done realistically... feel like I have been set free from a cage... I had no idea how much my obesity was holding me back, even in my own mind!!!) 5. What comlications have you had?? (I have severe iron deficiency anemia that is causing a considerable amount of distres by myself and all my docs but am coping.... also have an abdominal hernia that will need to be repaired soon... just in no hurry to go under the knife) Good to drop in with you guys!!! (and life is so busy that I don't drop in here nearly as frequently, but perhaps that is a good thing... hopefully I will continue to venture more out of my shell socially) B
So Blessed!

I'm doing well. Thanks for starting this post. I started out weighing 280. My weight has settled in the 147-151 range and I think that's about where I need to be. I've lost 10 sizes ~ slacks down from 26 to 6. I never thought it would happen to me, but I'm actually having trouble finding clothes in some stores because they're TOO BIG! If I had PS to get rid of extra skin, I'd probably be a size 4, but it's not that big of a deal to me. I feel good and I like the way I look. I'd rather spend the money on a vacation. Best wishes for continued success with your journey! Sue ZQ

You look normal, normal, normal with the hanging skin. And you may think it looks like fat---but for me I was 161 pounds and had an abdominoplasti 2-14-06 and the doc said it was all skin--I had lost all the fat. Hard to believe with all that stuff hanging. And looking down at it is disgusting. People who see you in clothes could not imaging what is hidden under there. Ughh. If you want me to email you a few preop abdominoplasti pictures just email me at [email protected]. document, document, every bump, rash, slit, sore that you get under the belly. Take pictures and go to the doctor and get it documented. If you get back pain get that documented at the doctors too. I kept a diary of my daily struggles for 4 months. My insurance denied the requestfor the abdominoplasti then after they got the pictures and back xrays results they approved the surgery the same day. Email me if you want.Hang in there.
