Thanks for answering back so quick. I too had alot of bowel problems and pain before WLS. I had my galbladder out in 1980 and have had problems since, until WLS. I have not experienced any pain like that at all until last week. Like I say the pain has stopped now, but if it happens even one more time I will call and make an appointment. Thanks for the concern. You look great, BTW. Keep up the work! I only like 23 pds being to my goal of getting under 200! I can hardly wait! God Bless, Rhonda D 336/222/145-

Hi Rhonda when I look back at the situation I had several episodes like you are describing, where I was hurting but not enough to bother the doctor. Believe me when the intestines finally cut off the pain was quite intese. I have had a lot of bowel issues in the past that caused me a great deal of pain, so at first I was not that worried. However this pain was so different, it was very sharp, and it felt as though someone had a rubberband tightening around my waist and ribs. I hurt from my ribs clear into my left hip. I also had never had pain that was worse on one side, this was definitly worse on my left side. By monday they gave me a shot of demerol, on top of the vicodin I already had taken, and I still could not stand up straight. I also had what felt like a ball rolling around in there. It turned out I was feeling my intestines moving, trying to get back in place. Anyhow if you have ANY question as to weather you are experiencing these thing I would get into your doc as soon as possible. It is really hard to diagnose, and pretty much they look at that when everything else has been eliminated. A thing to note too that I thought meant that I was safe was the fact that I had cleaned out the night before, I had no problems with bowel movements, I always thought if your intestines were cut off from oxegen that you wouldn't have bowel movements but I did. They were very painful but still there. Please take care and let me know how you are doing. I hope all goes well for you. Take care KatherineL

Hi katherine, How often did you have pain and for how long? When did it start? I had some pain last week, like Fri, Sat & Sun. Sat. I was at Walmart and just hurt the whole time and on Sunday too. I was standing up front with the worship team holding my stomach trying to sing. Man, when it was prayer request time you can bet I ask for prayer. By the time church was over the pain was gone, but I have had some light pains and nausea. It was like in the very pit of my stomach. Does this sound like what you had? Thanks for sharing with us and Im so glad you're okay. God bless, Rhonda D

Noel, It happens to me too sometimes. There are times I can eat only a few bites and sometimes I eat my protein, some veggies, and some salad and I think WOW I just ate wayyy to much!! But, I am still loosing and feel pretty good unless I eat "evil" food that I shouldnt be eating in the first place. Hang in there and yes, If it does persist, I would call the Doc. God Bless you, Rhonda D 336/222/145

Hi Noel, I also have a hard time eating....I find eating out to be a waste. I eat like 3-4 bites and am full. The waitress will come over thinking something is wrong with my meal and I just tell them no I am full. So it's not worth it. I also find that there are days I can eat and others like today, I ate barely nothing....I also find that it depends on the food I eat. I can eat something good like a salad one day and it will sit fine, try a few days later and I get 2 bites down and I'm in the bathroom getting rid of it. It's weird. But my doc said that it's normal. All food is going to be trial and error for a long time. I find it discouraging at times...I have people asking me how I can live on just a few bites of food, but they don't realize if I eat more than that I am deathly ill. I guess only your WLS family knows what we go through. I find if I eat 5-6 small meals, I call them snacks, a day I do better. I will have a few bites of fruit, a while later maybe some crackers w/PB. I do much better that way than trying to sit and eat a "meal". Don't feel alone, I know what your going through....Good Luck! I agree with Andrea. I rarely have problems eating a meal and find only a few things I don't really care for now that I have had surgery. There have been times when I have been eating something I thought I wanted (evil snacking) and not been able to eat much. Like last night, I got out the carton of ice cream (Mickey Mouse birthday cake ice cream!!) and thought I would eat a normal sized scoop worth. I had a couple bites and just didn't want any more at all. I have no problems with sugar or fat, so that's not the reason. It's nice to have a stomach that knows what you need vs. what you want when you don't have to have it!! LOL I would talk to your surgeon if you have too much trouble, but over the months, I have read so many post ops claim this same thing. You are probably just fine Erica 258/152/130-140ish

Hi Andrea thanks for your kind words. I am doing much better, this has really been an easy surgery to recover from, I am so thankful, cause it could have been so much worse. Take care KatherineL

Hiya Noel, For the most part I eat normally, but occasionally I have days where I cant eat much at all, or maybe even not whole days, but some meals I heap my plate with food (not like I used to but heaping for me now) and I take a few bites and I just cant eat anymore. I need to learn to not do that - I mean I can always take more, right and I hate wasting food. At restaurants, I usually know I am taking at least half home anyway so I eat what I want and have another meal ready to go. For me though, the not eating more than a few bites is the rarity and I can usually eat more normally. I think it is worth a call to your surgeon or nutritionist about - cant hurt, right? God bless you and keep you, ~Andrea
