Susan,
Sounds like a stricture to me. Don't worry about the scope. I had it done at 5 weeks post op (and a freak about things down my throat!!) and they put me out before they even put it in and it was out before I woke up. You don't go under general anesthesia, but they inject you with something. You won't know what happened, will wake up fifteen minutes later and have a mildly scratchy throat for about an hour or two. I ate soft foods for the first couple of days, but it was a HUGE difference. For me, it felt like my chest just burned until I would throw up whatever I had eaten. It didn't happen all the time or with all foods, but got worse and worse each time. Get the test done and then you will know. It makes it a whole lot better and really is no big deal. I didn't have a spray in my throat (at least not that I knew of!!), so didn't have the problem Louise did. You can always ask them not to do it until you are out too. It is a really quick procedure and you are out in an hour or less. Good luck hon!!

Topic: RE: Plastic Surgery Anybody?
Bonnie,
I am CERTAIN I will be having plastic surgery in the future, but have to wait until we are done having babies first. We want at least one more and most likely two, so it will be a few years for me. Please share with us what you find out though!! I want a tummy tuck and definitely a breast lift. But realizing the breast lift will need to be more reconstruction than just a lift. I was a 46DDD before surgery and with all the skin, I am a 36DDD!! It's so gross!! I was trying on bathing suits yesterday, which I looked okay in, but God forbid I stretched too far one way or the other, you could see my skin on my breasts turn into a scrunchy gross mess!! I am only 10lbs from the highest weight for my ideal body weight, but think I would like to lose about 20 more lbs so I am comfortably in the range. My arms aren't too bad, so I don't think I will be trading the skin in for that horrible scar!! I would love to hear about your plastics journey, so keep us updated! I do know that you should make sure whoever does the tummy tuck tightens the abdominal muscles underneath or I guess it just doesn't tighten up right otherwise. Just an FYI. I have done a very small amount of research up until now, but am sure in the next couple of years, I will be ready to dive into it. Good luck to you

Topic: Plastic Surgery Anybody?
I am 9 months post-op and 10 pounds from goal. I have lost 115 pounds and am thinking about abdominal surgery and breast lift. I have Keystone Health Plan East insurance. Anybody else in this same situation and have you started process for surgery yet?

Susan,
The scope test down your throat is really no big deal. I had to have it done a couple of months back. The worst part was they sprayed a yucky taste in my throat. You really should not put it off if you have a problem.

Topic: I think I am having complications...scared
Hi all
It has been a very long time since I posted anything, life has been a whirlwind (extreme stress) and I am just getting my bearings back. This is my thing...
I am about 7 months out now and just recently I have been experiencing a lot of gas, or so I think. Every time I eat I experience discomfort . The discomfort is in my upper stomach and lower chest (in the center). It even happens when I drink liquids. I have had no complications at all up to this point. I also have only had my period 1 time since my surgery back in November. I just saw my surgeon and he said I am doing well with the amount of weight loss and maybe I have a hormonal embalance and I might have an ulcer? Has anyone experienced this or have any feedback? I am down about -126lbs. I am so scared to go have that darn test where they put the tube down you throat. I know, I need to see a doctor about this, I guess I am looking for some comfort.

Topic: RE: problems eating?
Hi Noel: I still do not eat much. (My 1 yr anniversary is Nov) If I go to a restaurant, I try to go with a buddy. We order one meal and ask for an extra plate. I can eat 1/4 sandwich or small amounts. sometimes I feel like food is a waste of money. And sometimes I still really miss the comfort foods. So please dont think I am trying to preach. This is a hard journey. I just try to get in what is healty for me first, including protein in the morning, I do not do well with chicken, pork, greasy foods. So this is all forcing me to eat what I should, not what I want. I was hungry for mexican, my friend took me, we ordered one fajita meal, I filled one "small" tortilla with with fajita (removing the bell pepper) the steak and chicken was so tender and I was really able to enjoy what I could eat which was about 2/3. But truthfully, most of the time, eating just doesnt feel good anymore. I am trying to look at this as a blessing. Hopefully I wont need to worry about any weight gain later on. Wishing you the best. It will all work out eventually.
