I use to drink soda consantly. Now, I've replaced that with Crystal Lite ice tea. But I have soda every now & then. Was on vacaton in Dec and was given a diet coke when I had ordered sf lemonaide. It wasn't worth waiting line to get the right thing so I had that - drank about a 1/3 to 1/2 of the large and started to feel a littlle uncomfortable, so that was my limit. (dh got my leftover as ususal) At home I keep sf root beer in the fridge as a treat - sometimes with sf chocolate ice cream for a root beer float. I could never get my water/liquid requirements in if I was drinking soda, the carbonation would limit me. So I look at soda as a once in awhile treat. Like many foods, I can't say never again, because that leads to cravings and cravings can lead to binges. So, if I really want something I'll have a little bit - I think it's the 4 bite rule - so I don't let the cravings get out of control. diane

Yes I do, but on very rare occasion.. it has to get about 6 weeks of chill in the fridge before I decide to have it. Drives my kid bonkers seeing it sit there like that. So I maybe have a soda about 1x every 6-8 weeks. And when I do it's reg. soda.. no diet here tyvm. But 1 time I'll have it and be fine, the next time it don't sit well. I drink diet soda a few times a week. Here is what I noticed. At home, I have canned soda. I put A LOT of crushed ice in a TALL cup and poor it in. I nurse it and I have no problems. By the time I am finished, the ice is gone too. I've had no problems with soda in this way -- even drinking it with a straw. That said, I was out running errands with my mom and picked up a diet coke in a bottle from one of those little refrigerators. I took three sips and thought my pouch was going to BURST! I was in pain! I'm not sure if they have more carbination or if pouring the drink over the ice helps some of that to dissipate? Anyway, I learned a huge lesson that day. I'm sticking with diet soda from a can poured over a huge cup of ice! Best, ~V~

I haven't eaten fast food or drank a soda since before my surgery. That makes it so easy to pass it up. I believe that these two things are the bane of our society and are responsible for making a lot of people overweight in this country. Also, I don't want to forget what it was like before surgery. It's so easy to get complacent and forget what got us here. So I'm hoping you all don't get mad at me for telling you my opinion and it's only my opinion. All I know is that I"m down 145 pounds and in a size 8. I never want to get back the size 22's I was wearing and I will do whatever it takes to not feel the way I used to.
