We lost the baby...

I just posted the other day with the great news that my husband and I were expecting. Unfortunately, we just lost the baby yesterday. We are very upset and part of me wonders if it's because I had the surgery, but I also know that there are tons of women who are post op who have gotten pg and had very healthy babies, so I just have to accept that God had other plans for this little one. My first son passed away when I was 23.5 weeks along, so I know he is taking care of this baby until we can be with them again. Thanks again for your support and prayers. God bless! Erica

Hi Erica. I too lost a baby-- and I went full term. It happened 34 years ago and I will always remember that painful time. If you decide to try again (and you should), remember to give yourself some time before trying again and make sure the OBGYN monitors you closely. I'm very sorry for your loss but I'm pretty sure that weight loss surgery only helps you to get pregnant instead of hindering you. Just know that there are lots of people out there that have experienced a similar loss and that they have gone on to have a healthy baby and wonderful future. While the baby I lost will always be a part of me, I also have a wonderful baby girl that was healthy and is now 20 years old. She weighed 10 pounds and 1/3 oz and was 22 inches long. I remember asking my husband in the delivery room if she had all her fingers and toes because I was sure God didn't want me to have a baby. He said of course she does and she's all beautiful and rosy and gorgeous. So we can't question why things like this happen. They happen and we have to move forward while not forgetting our lost loved one. I wish you all the best life has to offer. Alice From Dallas 11/10/04 285/165

Erica, I am so sorry to hear of your miscarriage. I too had a miscarriage - at 11 1/2 weeks. I had had a mamaogram when I was less than a week pregnant and I still, at times, wonder if I had known I was pregnant and didnt have the mamogram if the baby would have been. It is hard but I will never know the reason why while I am on this earth, like you said, I guess God had other plans. Regardless, I know the pain of the loss of a baby through miscarriage as well and I am praying for healing for you and your husband. God bless you and keep you, ~Andrea

Thank you all so very much! We are doing a bit better each day and really taking the time to appreciate all God has blessed us with. I am at peace knowing our first son, who we lost at 23.5 weeks along, now has a sibling to keep him company in heaven. I can feel all of your prayers working and just want you to know how grateful I am for your concern and condolences! They mean so much to me God bless all of you! Erica

I just joined the site this evening and your post is one of the first I have read. I wanted to send my condolences. Please do not second-guess your surgery, and please do not feel responsible or guilty for something that was not in your control. You cannot bear the burden of God's will, but I hope you will reach out to God to help you through this painful time. I have copied a link to a poetry site specifically related to the loss of a child. It may help with your grieving process to read the words written by others who have shared in your loss. My heart aches for you. I am so sorry for your loss. God's blessings to you and your family. You are in my prayers. You are welcome to write to me if you ever need someone to listen. I will be here for you. http://www.thelaboroflove.com/prose/loss.html
