Hey all! Had surgery 11/23. I'm down to 218 and haven't lost anything in about 2 months. It is driving me nuts. I have tried eating more, eating less. I have cut out the carbs, increase protien. Have upped the cardio at the gym, but still stuck at 218. It fluctuates between 218-223. I think thats mainly water because I do drink a lot of liquids through-out the day (water, diet coke). I still have this gut and man-boobs I am trying to get rid of. I hope maybe 20-30 pounds more will do it. My goal is for 185ish, but don't think that will happen with the muscle I've been putting on. It wouldn't be so bad if I was shrinken in inches but I am staying still. Any suggestions? Would going pure protien drinks for a few days help confuse my body and kick it into gear again? Thanks in advance!

Hiya Jason, First off, congratulations on the awesome 101 lbs you have lost so far -way to go!!! Now, if I may be so bold, I would suggest you get rid of the diet coke. I have been told by my surgeon and nutritionist, and numerous things I have read that carbonated beverages were something I should just write off and not touch. Plus anything with caffeine does not really count as water since caffeine works to dehydrate and the liquid that comes with it is basically then useless. Other than that I dont know what to suggest except maybe going back and seeing the nutritionist, but first logging everything you eat and when, and also your exercise for maybe a week. Show the nutritionist the log and then ask for suggestions. Keep us posted on how things are going! God bless you and keep you, ~Andrea

Have to agree with the others, the Diet Coke should stop. I know not all Dr.s have their patients stop sodas, but most do and you should. While it may not be your only reason for the plateau, it is not helping. The nutritionist from your surgeons office should be able to help you figure out what is going on. I am getting ready to make the call myself to help break my own plateau. Also remember everybody has stalls. Your body need to readjust to the losing and this is the way. Do not get discouraged, as long as you follow the rules, you will continue to lose.

Hi, I seem to be running into the same problem. I have tried everything, even going as far as back to the first week after surgery. Not even this has worked. I do not do cabonated/caffinated beverages, have even upped my cardio yet nothing seems to work. I have lost a total of 77 bpounds since Nov 1, 2004. this is really frustraiting. If you come up with a solution I would apreciate you passing it along. Thank you in advance.

I know its not my protien lol. I work out hard and I am taking in about 200g a day! Last night I cut the rest time in between sets in half and it was really wearing me out, I was even sweating even more. So I am going to be trying that out for a month and see how it does.

I was stuck between 205 and 210 forever. I increased calories, decreased calories, increased cardio and days in the gym from 3 to 5 a week. Don't do any carbonated drinks, get my water and protein in but what I was doing is eating a few crackers and cookies and cheese puffs. Not a lot, and not all the time. I got really strict on the carbs and finally dropped below 200 pounds last monday. Now I weigh 198 since last monday. Here we go again. My nutritionist said I should not get more than 1000 calories a day, which is contrary to everything I have heard but something finally worked. Best of luck to you, and hang in there!!!
