Hello all, I am just curious how everyone is doing? I have only lost about 80 lbs so far. I started at 295 the day of surgery and I am down to about 215 lbs give or take depending on the day. I'm starting to get a little nervous that this is all I'm going to lose. My weight loss has really slowed down. I am also able to eat almost like a normal person. No one would even expect that I had surgery the way I eat. Can anyone else eat pretty normally?? Carrie 295/215/???

Carrie, I am in the same boat. I was 289 before surgery and now I'm 214! I'm disgusted! I was actually down to 208.5 until I started Clomid to get pregnant. Yes we are trying because I am done losing weight. I too can eat pretty normal with the exception of breads and the like. i think to myself that I somehow sabatoged my surgery and maybe tried to eat things before I was supposed to try them. I don't know... I guess I should be happy because I really do have a better life now and I don't need any medications anymore. I'm probably the last person to give advice here, but it may help to hear from someone who hasn't hit the "goal mark" yet! Jennifer

I started out at 350, and am down to 239. So I've lost about 110 lbs. I lose about 10 lbs. a month now. If I am not careful with my eating, I don't lose at all. I do exercise every day, for an hour, I take Sundays off unless I take a nice walk. I try to keep my protein up, about 70 grams a day. I guess I could get in more protein, I may lose more, but my doc says I may gain if there is too much protein. I guess it is really up to us whether we lose more weight. We have to be vigilant about exercise, protein, and carb intake. I would like to lose another 80 lbs. So I have to keep plugging away. Pam

I've lost about 115lbs or so. depending on the day. I also feel that some days I can eat like a normal person then other days like I can hardly eat at all. I know I have to watch what I eat and be more vigilant than I have previously been. Good luck with the journey! Erin 277/162/?

I have lost 100-105 pounds. I tinker between the 100 and 105 as I have been eating a lot in comparison to what I ate during the first 6 months. I hardly exercise too which I know is a problem. Sharon 335/230/182 Will I ever make goal??

I started at 207 (228 high weight) and weigh 156 now. I lost 72 pounds altogether and 51 since surgery. Percentage wise it all works out. I'm still going at it...goal is 23 more pounds! I feel like we'll get there, just don't give up! Love Julie

Hello Carrie, First let me congratulate you on your weight loss thus far !!! I think you've done a wonderful job and think...what else could you have done to loose 80 pounds so quickly? I do understand you being a little concerned, but I often tell people they shouldn't let the scale dictate how they're progress is going. I too was a "scale" person, but it wasn't until I thought I was on a plateau at one point and didn't see the scale move for a while, but...the inches were melting away and so much so that I'm now wearing a size 8/10 after coming from size 24W/26W. I began this journey at 285.4 pounds and now weigh @165 pounds so that'll put me at a loss of 120 pounds. I was taken aback by that, but realized there's nothing I did previously that would have allowed me to loose this amount of weight in such a short time. Be thankful for what you've lost so far and again I congratulate you on your success now and in the future. Continued success...Ms. Praise

Hi Carrie, Congrats on your weight loss thus far!! I think 80 pds. is a good amount just keep at it and it will come off. Sometimes your body plateaus...It's VERY discouraging!! When that happens try switching something in your everyday routine. More water intake, a different exercise, lower carbs....See what that does, it may do the trick! I started out at a whopping 311 pounds. I have lost a total of 139 pounds. I went from a size 24/26 to a 10/12. I have about 15 pounds to go to reach my goal of 155. Its coming off a lot slower now but am grateful to only be 15 pounds from a healthy weight. I never in my life have been even close to a healthy weight! Be happy with your accomplishments so far, you deserve it. Try picking up something that weighs 80 pounds.....It's a lot! Good luck with your pregnancy! Take care, Karry 311/172/155 goal

Hi Carrie. I had my surgery on 11/16/04. As of this morning I have lost 80.3 pounds. While there are days that I am disappointed with this, I know that I am not finished yet. I want to get to the century club by the one year mark. I think I can do it. There is still time to lose the weight. It is not a race. That is what I tell myself. Congratulations on the weight loss so far. Shelly 302/221.7/160
