Little victories...
Hey everyone, I thought I'd take a minute and just chronicle some of the "new" things I'm doing, now that I've had WLS.
I went down a waterslide for the first time in my life.
I rented and rode a scooter... and had a ball!
I'm wearing a bathing suit in public, and swimming every chance I get.
I jogged, actually really jogged a little yesterday!
I'm shopping, trying on clothes (which actually fit) and finding it enjoyable. I find cute things, and it's so rewarding that most of the time I don't even buy anything!
I can cross my legs comfortably! Very cool.
I fit in all chairs... and don't worry that they'll break when I sit in them!
How about you? What victories are you experiencing?
lynnie
Hiya Lynnie,
One of the little victories that I enjoy is similar to you - I can cross my legs comfortably. I never realized how comfortable it is!! LOL Now I know why all these women do it! LOL
Another victory for me has been running. My husband is an elite runner, always placing in the top 3 in his age group in all the races he enters. I had always gone to the races to support him but felt very out of place and conspicous because of my weight. I started running back in March (I dont know if running is the right word, I could probably walk as fast as I ran!!! LOL) I ran for 30 minutes and completed about 2 miles in that time. I have now increased my mileage to 4 miles per day 3 - 4 days per week and I have entered two 5K's and did just fine in the first and very good (for a new runner) in the second. Its a lot more fun going to the races now, lol. Also, even when I dont run and I go to support my husband I feel so much less conspicuous. I feel more a part of the groups now too. I know it wasnt them before, it was me, and my self-consciousness because of the weight but regardless I feel much better about it all now. :D
God bless you and keep you,
~Andrea
