When did you stop shopping in Lane Bryant (or other large size clothing store)? I was out shopping today and by habit went into Lane Bryant to see what was on sale. I found some really cute pants but at a 14 they were slightly baggy. Not bad but very comfortable. 16's have been baggy on me but I didn't think I was in 14's yet. So I went to a normal size clothing store (Lerner NY) and tried on some 14's from there, and they were a perfect fit. I couln't believe it. I guess I am really to small for LB now. It is just so weird for me. I have been shopping there for so long now. Just another amazing reality of this surgery. Melissa

Hiya Melissa, Wow, isnt that awesome?? I have read some stories on this site about people wandering around aimlessly in the "normal" sections of clothing or department stores with absolutely no idea where to start and being very traumatized by it. As far as that goes for me - I will take some more of that kind of trauma any day!! :D Keep up the good work!! God bless you and keep you, ~Andrea

I had the same feeling when I no longer fit into LB clothes. I loved their clothes! March-ish is when I stopped shopping there. Congrats!

Isn't it great! I was in Lerner NY yesterday (love that store) and bought a size 12...I was so happy that they fit. The only reason I even tried them on was they didn't have a 14...so I was just gonna see how much I needed to lose for the 12s...they fit perfectly!!! These are my new favorite pants. There is way to much to choose from now!!! I also bought a top in Limited...which I have NEVER been able to shop at before.

I also used to LOVE LB clothes!! I think I stopped shopping there around Feb/March time....I still can wear some of the bra's from there, but thats it!! I actually have been VERY lucky, the girls I work with are alos shop-a-holics and have tons of clothes, so once a month they weed through their stuff and give me some nice clothes. I went to NY and comp. back in early April and was wearing a 16 there. Now I'm down to a 10-12. One of the girls gave me this really pretty skirt from Express, size Large and it's actually a little big on me now!!! I remember going by all those stores when I was heavy, thinking how small all the clothes looked. Now it seems ever more weird knowing that they fit me!!!!! Gotta love that!!! Karry 311/177/155 goal

It's funny you posted this question!! On Tuesday, we were at the mall and there was a $9.99 sale going on at LB. So, I told hubby we "had" to go look. So, after wandering around and looking, I realized I couldn't fit into any of their clothes any more and I was so bummed!! I just moved to a place where they have a LB (didn't have one near us until last year!!) and loved getting things on sale there. Wow, it was almost sad to think I won't be going back in there because I am still insecure walking into Gap, Express, etc. I still feel like I am too big to shop there and by walking into those stores, I have a "I'm too big to shop here" sign on my head!! Crazy huh? Just waiting for my brain to realize that I am not 258lbs anymore and I have every right to try those stores out as anyone else. I went to the Gap when I was about 198 and tried on a L or XL (do they have XL?) and it was just a little tight and I felt soooo mortified that I even tried it on. I have since lost another 43lbs and think I just might head that way today to prove I CAN shop there now!! Thanks for reminding me Erica 258/155/135-125ish

I'm not shopping at Lane Bryant - but for a different reason - Wal mart clothes are a lot cheaper & since I'm buying every few weeks still - that's all I can afford Also we have a GREAT thrift store in my town - sells brand new & BARELY worn clothes for $2.00 per pair of pants - got five pairs of pants & 4 shirts last week for the new job for - you got it - under $10.00 I'm still in a size 20 - well really a 19 that weird tween place.... lookign forward to getting into a solid 18 - some of them are just a little tight in the thighs still - alwyas had problems with my thighs

Hi Melissa, I guess I stopped shopping in LB about Feb/March. I remember buying size 14's there and my daughter told me that if I could wear a 14 then I could go into normal stores and shop. I didn't believe her until I tried it. I bought my first size 14's in a normal store around March I think. I'm now currently in size 10/12. I've shopped in Walmart, Penney's, Kohls, Bob's stores, Vanity Fair. It's just a wonderful feeling. Who knew how great it would be. I can wear size small in tops. A lot of my 12's are getting loose on me now. But I just bought tons of 12's on Mother's day that I just can't get rid of them yet. They are comfortable and if they aren't falling off of me, I'll continue to wear them. I have some 10's that fit better. God bless, ~Angel 255/222/138/118 Only 20 more to go! BMI : 27.0
