Hi, My surgery was November 29th, I started out at 260 lbs with a BMI of about 42. I am almost 7 months post op,,,,,,, consider myself a very slow loser as i have only lost 74 lbs, and have been bouncing with two lbs for the last month. Seems the more my weight stands still the more i find myself wanting to eat out of frustration. I find if i really really watch what i eat , exercise and drink my water i still lose NOTHING........ so then i get frustrated all over again. I feel like 74 lbs in almost 7 months is not that great to begin with and now to be standing still is driving me nuts. I dont want to finished........ I want to lose at least another 30 lbs. How do i get off this cycle,,,,,,,,, i am getting so depressed. I also find myself getting hungrier as the weeks go by..... I dont eat alot at one sitting but i get hungry continually throughout the day and find myself beginnng to think about food again. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks joann

I had my surgery Nov 8th, and have the same problem. Except I still have 75 pounds to lose. I eat about 700 to 1100 calories a day but usually under 1000. I go to the gym 3 times a week, and exercise with videos at least 2 times a week. I haven't lost anything in a month, except the same 5 pounds up and down. When I up my water I have fluid retention. I get hungry soon after I eat. Sometimes I do stay satisfied for a while but most of the time I am hungry again. I have a problem with carbs at work, but have decided to really get down to business again. I have a freind who had surgery the same time that I did and she eats all the time, or so everybody says, and she is still losing. There was a post a while back about a plateau buster diet, but it is way more than I am eating now. I wish you the best of luck and if you figure something out please let me know too. I have heard that this is normal as the body needs to catch up. But I have been losing slow for a while now and it should be caught up. LOL

Darla, It sounds to me like your not eating enough and that's why your not losing. If you only eat 700-1000 calories, you body is trying to store them because it is going into starvation mode. Try to up your caloric intake eating primarily protein and you will notice the weight start to come off again. Make sure you drink your water and see what happens. I eat 1200-16000 calories a day and am losing 2 lbs. a week. I only have 6 lbs. to make goal. Give it a try and enjoy the extra food!

I had surgery nov 2,2004 and have lost 80 pounds. You are doing better than me. I have been in the same boat as you are now. Up the water, protein and make sure when you work out you really work out. don't waste time half doing it. Be encouraged and it will happen.

I had my surgery Nov 10th. I've lost 80 lbs as of today. I stepped on the scale and finally after 2 weeks, I've lost 2 lbs. My doctor would like me to lose 22 more lbs. The last few lbs are always the hardest to lose. I'm so happy with the progress I've made so far that my attitude is when the rest comes off it does. It didn't jump on me over night. So I just go about my life doing what I do. Low carbs, avoid sugar and high fatty foods. No carbonation. Exercise, water and protein. Not much else I can do. So when I get days like today when I see a 2 lb loss I'm pleasantly surprised. As for being more hungry these days. Some days I'm fine but like you I have those days that I feel like I'm always hungry. When I am, I just eat a piece of fruit, or cheese stick. It usually holds me over until my next meal. Be patient, the rest will come off. I know it's real hard. I feel your pain. Just try to enjoy the success you've had so far. When was the last time you lost 74 lbs in less than 7 months? Good luck and God bless, ~Angel 255/222/142/118

I understand where you are coming from...I have been struggling with the last 10-15 pounds for the last few months. I have lost 130 pounds total. I did lose like 30 pds. prior for my 10% weight loss. So I have lost 100 pds. since surgery. I am very happy with that but I notice that it has slowed down alot....I exercise and try to eat all the right things.. but I do eat some carby snacks that I shouldn't. I have a hard time eating 3 large meals a day. I do much better eating 4-5 small snacks...Like a few apple slices then a little while later a small salad..I can't do a meal meal, know what I mean? Like meat, veggies etc. It sits way to heavy on my pouch. I also have to get better with my water intake. I only get 3-4 8oz. glasses in a day. I should double that....Oh well I am proud of my accomplishments and you should be too. Everyone is different and will lose at their own pace. Good luck with everything and take care... You are doing wonderful. You still have some months to go before your year mark. Just increase your protein in take and see if that makes a difference. I still have 145 pounds to go and I was so spoil the first six months now that I am not lossing like before I am wondering what happen. I tell you this to say we are all doing just fine. Before surgery we were not able to lose and keep it off now we can Thanks Be to God. Hope this encourages you to keep on press on and to stay positive no matter what. Keep moving .
