Anyone else weight loss slowing at 6 months?

Hey Family, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a slowing down of their weight loss at 6 months out? I only lost like 4 pounds this month. I have been back with the protein and water, with exercise 3 times a day, 5 days a week. And still the scale has not moved. I knew that it would slow down, but to a crawl? If anyone can help, I would appreciate any words of wisdom to get those scales moving again. Thanks in advance. Cathy 287/213/135

Hiya Cathy, Yes my weight loss has slowed dramatically. I have been stalled for about 2 weeks now with just one pound to go to have a normal BMI - very frustrating. I am sure though that the weight will come off, in its own time now. Just keep doing what you are doing, sticking with the protein, water, low carbs and exercise and I am sure it will start to come off again, although probably much slower than we have been used to. God bless you and keep you, ~Andrea 223/137/123

Hi Cathy, My scale hasn't budged in 2 weeks. I weighed myself on the 10th which was my 6 month anniversary and since it hasn't changed. But I should be getting my period next week and not sure why but I seem to lose the most during that week. So i'm keeping my fingers crossed for that. Just don't despair. Keep up with all your exercise, water and protein. I'm sure it will start up again. Good luck and keep us posted. God Bless, ~Angel 255/222/150/118

Hiya Angel, You know its funny you say that you lose the most weight the week of your period because I do also - then it stalls out for almost a week - although this time the stall has been longer - I havent lost weight since my 6 month anniversary either (5/11) - been hanging on to being overweight it seems, lol. I have just ONE MEASLY POUND to lose to have a NORMAL BMI and I cant seem to lose it - although I am hoping tomorrow is the day (again!! LOL) I was reading your profile and I see that you have the same birthday as my mother so if you are anything like she is you must be a wonderful person. At any rate, Happy Belated Birthday! God bless you and keep you, ~Andrea 223/137(STILL-GRRRR)/123

You and I have a lot in common. Our starting weight is one lb apart. You had your surgery the day after me. I'm 5'0" and I believe you said that you were 5'1" or 5"2. Not sure. But that's where it ends I think. You are ahead of me. You lost more. But that's ok. You give me hope As for me and your Mom with the same bday's. Thank you for the compliment and tell Mom Happy belated Birthday for me! As for your one more pound til normal bmi.. you must be going nuts. LOL That would definately make me crazy. I hope you get it soon. Let us know we all want to be updated. It's very exciting getting to normal. It must way better than getting to overweight. God Bless, ~Angel 255/222/150/118

Mine has slowed to a crawl as well - even though now that I am unemployed - my stress eating has completely disappeared - Imagine that! I measured myself tonight (I do it once a month) & even that has slowed - Oh well - it's good to hear it's the same for all of you because it helps me to know this is pretty normal - Good news is I'm working outside like a mad woman - we have an acre & a quarter that needs to be weeded - because we live in the mountains & are in a high fire area - so my arms and legs are getting a good work out. I'm not too stressed about the weight slow down - except - I think unlike many of you I am still about only half way to goal - weighed at 228 yesterday - Need to get to 155 - 175 - so you see there's still a lot of fat to be gone - Of course I feel physically good right now & I keep saying to myself if I didn't lose another pound it would be okay - cause I'm healthier than I've been in years & I feel really good & sleep really well. Doing the math- I'm more than half the way there - not bad for 6 months out I guess Keep up the great work everyone 304/228/155

Hi Cathy, My weight has definitely slowed down. I am losing about 5 pounds a month now. It still seems to come off in the same pattern of lose for 1 1/2 weeks then nothing for the rest of the month. I will take it any way I can get it. I figure as long as I keep with my routine of excercise and watching calories it will keep coming off. Good Luck! Teresa

Hi Cathy, Yes.. Mine's stalled out right now too (though I think I may be coming out of it..) I use a spreadsheet to mark my progress and it shows me the pattern my body makes as it loses.. so what I've been going through for a couple of weeks has been about normal for me.. *sigh* I guess I'm what some call a "slow loser" -- but I guess I'm just happy to be a loser at all! It'll get moving again.. don't worry.. Stef Lap RNY 11/12/04 390-> 299-> 175

Cathy, I am right there with ya. I still would like to loose 32lbs, but being only 6 months out I keep telling myself that is a good amount of weight to loose in the next 6 months. (trying to make myself feel better) My sister who is 2 years out, says I will continue to loose, but it will get slower and slower as I get closer to my goal. Plus she says not to look at the scales much anymore, because my inches will come off more than the pounds. I am feeling pretty good, and can't complain! Good luck, and God bless!
