Magic Numbers...
So I know everyones surgeon and or nutritionist has specific requirements, plans, or numbers to live by. What works for you, what is your cut off, requirement, tolerance, etc.
My 2 magic numbers are : Sugar 7 or less and Carbs 9 or less preferably under 5.
I have not gone over 7g of Sugar, so far that does not affect me, and I do not want to know if I can tolerate more. After 6 mnths of no bread, pasta, rice, chips (except carb option or soy crisps)...I do not miss them so I am doing good with my carbs as well.
I guess I notice in alot of posts on the main board about foods they are eatting and so many eat bread, wraps, pizza....I worry that once I get back into something I won't be able to control it or that I will stop losing weight and I'm not done yet!

LOL.......I messed up......LOL Anyways, I agree with you no bread, potatoes, or rice. My nuitritionst wants me to eat 100 grams of carbs per day. I tally what I eat every day using the fitday program I bought from their web site. I was told to stay under 1,100 calories per day, too. I am 100 lbs down and feeling good. Michelle,
What a wonderful job you have done - with your weight loss, with your profile, with your attitude towards life!
Remember you know yourself better than anyone.... if you can't have just a little bit and be done.... you might not want to start. Whatever you do, as someone reminded me, its time to get out of the "diet" mode and think instead of lifestyle changes. When you look at it that way, it kinda makes a difference. If its something you can't live without, then you might have to figure a way you can include it without sabotaging your progress. If not, its something you leave alone forever.
Just remember what a great job you have already done... you are in control and can make good choices.... I can't wait for you to start dating.... do tell!!!!
Have fun

Hiya Michelle,
For the most part I stay away from bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, and especially sugar. I do have a slice of pizza or 1/2 a wrap once in a while. I dont eat all the bread of it though. With the pizza I might have 3 - 4 bites of a VERY thin slice and then I just eat the cheese off the top. I usually have some salad with it also. With the wrap, I do the same thing - have 3 - 4 bites of the wrap and then unwrap it and eat the insides. I have been doing this for at least 2 months and I have not had any desire to increase anything and I have continued to lose weight. If I thought I wouldnt be able to control it I wouldnt have any at all. That is what I am doing with sweets (my major major downfall). I do have some Sugar Free Recees Peanut Butter cups (and I have for at least 4 months now****ep a bag or two in the house and once in a while I will have 2. 2 is enough and is thoroughly enjoyable for me. In the past, before the surgery, when I dieted my downfall would always be saying oh.. I am doing so good, I can have 1 bite of this brownie and I would. But next time it would be 2 bites and before I knew it I was eating the whole brownie, and then I was back to my old habits. I have an issue, or addiction, or whatever you want to call it, to sugary foods. That is one reason why I didnt want the lap band - I would still be physically able to eat sugar. I cant with the RNY - I know what happens when I have something even a LITTLE sugar and I am NOT going there - EVER. So anyway I havent even answered your question about my surgeoen's plan for me because he hasnt given me numbers - I have given them to myself. Nothing with more than 2 g of sugar and nothing with more than 10 grams of carbs. Been doing great this way - but I do follow what he says I should and shouldnt eat.
God bless you and keep you,
~Andrea
