Hey guys! I know other people have posted this but I need some encouragement. I have had a bad couple of weeks. I gained 2 pounds last week... lost that and have only lost another pound since then. So in 2 weeks I have only lost 1 pound. I feel like I am a slow loser. Started at 352 now I am 245. I have been around this weight for almost a month it seems. I have been walking atleast 4 nights a week and watching my carbs and protein intake. I drink atleast 60 oz of water a day. It is just so discouraging! Is this it for me? I have gone from a size 30/32 to a 22/24. I feel better... but when I look in the mirror I am not happy. I don't want to step on the scale at all. It makes me sad to see it only change a couple of ounces! What do I do to get out of this slump? Jen

Jen, You've lost over 100 lbs.! What an accomplishment! You've done better than I. Of course the weight loss will slow down, and you will hit plateaus. You're body needs to catch up to that quick weight loss you have experienced. No way are you a slow loser. I started out at 350 and am down to 265, and I am not classified as a slow loser. I would increase the water intake to 8 glasses a day, or more. Keep doing what you are doing and it will start coming off again. You also may need to start increasing your activity level, make sure you are still huffing and puffing. Try to get in 30 minutes of daily exercise. Or more. You are doing great, Pam

Thanks Pam! Now that the weather is warm I know it shouldn't be a problem drinking more water. I love water! I am going to walk tonight and I am going to make sure I push myself. I can do it! I just need some pep talks to get me there! Thanks so much! Jen

Jen, It's really normal for the weight loss to slow down and even stop for periods of time. At this point - (6 mos out) I lose about 5lbs a month. The more you have to lose the faster it comes off - also the older you are, the slower it tends to come off. If you keep doing all the right things you will continue to lose the weight. Maybe mix up the exercise a little - instead of walking you could ride an exercise bike or swim. That might jump start you. Also, increase your protein (maybe just add a protein shake) that could kick you into gear again too. You'll be fine I promise! Take care! Debbie

I am down 83 and in no way do I consider myself a slow loser. I highly recommend Curves. I go religiously three times a week and it has made an incredible difference. I have muscles where I only had flab before. Not to mention that I feel stronger, sexier and more confident. I like it...no mirrors, no men, no spandex babes...just lots of good support. Jo

You've lost 107 pounds and you think you are a slow loser....Give me a break. I've lost 95 pounds since 11/10/04 and am thrilled. Find something or somebody else to worry about. It sounds like you are weighing every day. That will drive you crazy. Weigh every day but only make it count once a week. That way when your fluid intake makes your weight fluctuate you won't worry about the measly 2 pounds that you regain. It's got to be water weight. Also up the fluid intake. I'm sorry you have had a bad couple of weeks. It's normal for ebb and flow of weight loss at our stage. So don't be so hard on yourself. Don't look in the mirror if you can't be happy with what you have accomplished thus far. You have gone down 5 or 6 sizes. Be proud of yourself. You're a winner...not a loser. Take care of yourself because we care about you! Alice From Dallas 11/10/04 285/189/170

Use fitday.com cd-rom to tally up daily food intake....take the results to your nuitritionist...they will tell you why your not losing....If your not using fitday.com or another similar program daily your just guessing on what your doing wrong. I paid $29.95 for the mailed to my house cd-rom...the free verison on the net is limited and is ok, but if you want precise and indepth reports you need to buy it. Just my opinion. And I am lose steadily with no plateaus....Sandy in Tucson

Like I said many times over the fit day program is the bomb. I set goals with it. It tallies your calories-carbs-protein-fats for the day. then you can modify your food choices according to what you have already eaten during the day. It tweeks things when your not sure what is going wrong. My nuitritionist wants me to intake 100 grams of carbs per day...that is like hard since I was not eating any bread, rice or potatoes....so now I eat a small bowl of all bran to up my carbs for the day. I just know my Dr.s office and their support staff have given me all the clues to loose, now it is my choices if I use them. Sandy
