Eating in restaurants
Hey Leighann!!
Ok, not a long list but here goes...
Isaac's - Finch (I love their turkey!). I eat the turkey and the cheese and bacon but not the bread - ok, maybe a little of the bread. I can eat about 1/4 and take the rest home.
Chili's - cup of broccoli and cheese soup - yum
Wendy's - chili but I'm pretty sick of it since that was the first real food I ate after surgery and I got it a lot.
Burger King - 1/2 cheeseburger without the top roll (I wasn't proud of the fact that I went to the big BK at all but I was rushed for time).
Take care!!
Debbie
Since I travel every week from Mon - Friday, I spend a lot of time in restaurants eating. Most of the time, I try to get the soup especially at lunch. It fills me up and I don't get sick very often on it unless I eat too many noodles from chicken noodle. I don't do that anymore!
Anyway, here are some of my favs:
Red Lobster: ask for 1/2 lb of snow crab legs and get a dinner salad or soup. This fills me up. If i am eating with a good friend, I will share a meal with them.
Red Robin: Pulled pork fajitas. Hold the guac and tortillas
Subway: Atkins wrap, usually only get the meat and cheese with ranch or light mayo. This is two meals for me.
Uno's: cup of Clam chowder.
Boston Market or Chicken Out Rotisserie: The turkey with mashed potatoes, no gravy and no bread.
The biggest thing I do when I try a new restaurant or one I haven't been in before, I tell the waiter/waitress, I am a gastric by-pass patient or show my OH Card. Ask if I can order off of the senior menu or if there is an ala carte menu or sometimes the children's menu. Most restaurants are very accomodating.

I have tried:
Restaurants:
Red Lobster- one time I got clam chowder and another time I ordered the lobster, shrimp, fish stuffed mushrooms... the mushrooms were protein packed, but very greasy (due to the cheese). Next time I'm thinking of trying crab by adding it onto someone's meal
Chilis- I've gotten the shrimp (that's added onto an order) and they were pretty tough since they were grilled- I put a lot of lemon juice on them to help me eat them. With that I had someone's else's side dishes- mushrooms and bell peppers then a bite of the cheesy mashed potatos.
Red Robin- I've shared the fish tacos (not eating the breading or the tortilla) and the pork fajitas (not eating the tortilla and the rice).
Chinese- Egg Fu Yung- I don't eat the sauce and eat the insides of it. Mu Shu pork- w/out wrap, wonton soup- that is THE best- I get the 'ultra' version that has shrimp, chicken and pork floating around w/the wontons. I can eat the meat out of the wontons but don't touch the shell of the wonton. Then I eat the veggies of the soup.
Mexican- Primarily I will get a taco or burrito and eat w/out the tortilla. Tacos- I get chicken w/cilantro and cheese then add chilis. Burritos (the kids size)- chicken, beans, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomatos, chili salsa.
Other places I try and order soup or a salad (eating the protein first; i.e. I always add chicken or shrimp if it doesn't already come with a meat item). For soups, I try to get protein w/out carbs- i.e. no noodles or potato based soups. My favorites are Thai soups and Chinese soups. For salads, I usually stick to spinach or the field salads- staying away from iceburg since iceburg has no nutritional value.. and I'm not going to waste my limited veggie intake on that! Hee hee I do miss my salads. Oh, I get the dressing on the side too.
Fast food:
I try to get salads or sandwiches and leave out the carbs like breads, fries, etc. I did try a cheeseburger from Portillo's (w/out bun) and was able to eat about 4 bites- beef is really dense for me still.
I really enjoyed reading other's choices too!

I've eaten in a lot places. Let's see.
Red Lobster: I ate 2 King Crab Legs and some salad
Applebee's: different things. Sometimes soup & salad, or 2 riblets, i've had a cheeseburger no bun.
Chili's: 3 ribs and a salad, 1/4 of a ribeye steak w/ steamed veggies(never finish all of them), chicken tenders(peel the breading off)
Bolder Creek: 2 lobster tails & some salad. Or 1/4 of an 8 oz prime rib w/ steamed veggies.
Okey Dokey: chicken cordon bleu. (only 1/2) w/ some rice
TGIFridays: Cheesy Chicken and mashed potatoes. (I can only eat one of the chicken breasts and maybe 1/4 of potatoes.
Fast Food:
McD's: Chicken nuggets (2 of them) or cheeseburger no bun.
Burger King: Chicken sandwich.. eat around the bread
Wendys: Fruit cup and .99 cheeseburger no bun

Well since it seems I eat out more than at home here goes:
Any Mexican Restaurant: bean and cheese nachos w/ guacamole & sour cream; Queso;
Cheddars: ate nachos there with spicy ground beef on it (didn't know it would be like that); had the biggest dumping session ever. You don't want to be on the highway in traffic when this happens. Trust me.
Luby's: soup mostly broth; baked fish; mashed potatoes; salad.
Chinese: egg drop soup; hot & sour soup; crab puffs;
Chili's: chili cheese dip w/ chips & salsa; you can get this to go and it costs less than $5 and you can eat off it for several days.
Other places that I can't remember right now.

Great Posting!
I have some kind of weird phobia of eating out, I rather just order decaf coffee or soup. I get so paranoid about portions, and ingredients.
Dennys 1 egg scrambled with cheese and mushrooms.
Chinese egg drop soup
Wendys chili - usually don't finish a small
Olive Garden some kind of bean soup about 2 mnths post op, ate a few beans and drank the broth
Captains Seafood in Myrtle Beach cup of she crab soup..while everyone else from my group stuffed themselves with the huge buffet and snow crab legs...was depressing
Desperados Myrtle Beach tried the prime rib soup...yuck! ordered my decaf LOL
I do not eat out much. I prefer dairy products -I can live on cheese!

My problem is that I can eat anything and have only gotten sick 4 times from eating to fast and to much!! At taco bell I am addicted to the Fiesta chicken bowl. But I only eat about 1/2 of it and my boss finishes it for me. My boss and hubby are gaining weight because I give them all my left overs. I do order from the kids menu, mostly fish with a sm. salad. I have eaten at Texas Road House and ordered their kids steak bits? They were awesome!! Had a bite of their bread as well, which is SO GOOD. O.k. now I am starving......ha ha Seems like we are all doing well. Good luck and blessing to everyone.
Mexican: Tostada salad with chicken, lettuce and cheese I don't eat the shell, Insides of a enchilada or burrito..no tortillas, rice, or beans!
Chinese: hot and sour soup, garlic chicken, a few steamed vegetables! No rice or sweet sauces
Indian Food: boneless chicken, saag (spinach), no breads!
Seafood: shrimp, fish, crab, salads!!
Diners: omelets, 1 egg w/cheese & ham, or a few sausage links or bacon, Ceasar salads or cobb salads w/ grilled chicken!
Burger King: I ordered just the chicken that they put in the salad. It is moist and I eat it with a fork right out of the pouch it comes in!
Jack in the Box: Fajita Pita but I don't eat the pita!
Taco Bell: insides of the soft tacos chicken or beef!
I am losing so slowly and I noticed that everyones eating more carbs and are still losing so quickly. What's up with that!!? I only wish I could have bites of potatoes, breads, and FRIES! I'd probably gain weight Ekkkk!! ***Still trying to break this 5 weeks plateau***
