How can a person loose inches and not pounds? It's been five months today for me since my surgery and I've lost 49 pounds. I't seems as thought I should be loosing more than what I am, my starting weight was 288 and know I'm 239 pounds, I know I'm loosing inches because I can fit into a skirt that I counl'nt fit into two weeks ago. I'm loosing slow, I've lost one pound last weekend and one this weekend.

It is easy to do. Muscle is much denser than fat, so if you are working out as you build muscle you may "stall" What is really happening is you are building muscle. Muscle will reshape your body making some parts go in and others lift up. So even though you may not see it on the scale you are losing fat. Oh and lean muscle burns fat more efficiently. SO the more muscle you gain the more fat you will burn. I found this out on my 3 week plateau or stall. I dropped a size but not a pound - very frustrating.

Denise, As long as you're inches are going down, don't sweat it. We all lose at different rates. I've 5 months out too and have only lost 60. Keep your chin up - it will come off! Deb

Hi! I'm losing slowly also 51 lbs in 5 months but it still is very noticable. It's okay to los slowly. Think about all the inches we lost and the weight. People see me and call me skinny . I started at 256 and I am now 205.
