Hi everyone, Like a lot of you, my hair is falling out and has been for the last couple of months. I've cut it, and it looks thicker, but I'd really like to dye it. Has anyone dyed their hair since it started falling out? Has it made things worse? Did more hair come out? I'm scared in case I dye it and then it ALL falls out! I just want to use a store-bought dye and do it at home. Any ideas/suggestions/info you can share?? Thanks sooooo much! Tish

I had highlights done 1 month after surgery and just went for a touch up last week I did loose hair as im in the loosing stage right too. I went to my beauty shop to have my hair done. It really is up tp you but know that you will loose hair no matter what. I made sure to tell my hairdresser about the hair loss and she was very understanding and actually gave me a protien treatment to help with growth. Do what makes you feel good . . .

I recently used one of the store bought that lasts 28 washes. I woke up one night and with the combination of gray & thinning it looked like I was bald. It's doesn't seem to have changed the rate that it's falling out at. now if only the leg hair would fall out, that would be something.... diane

Hey Tish - Diane's post made me chuckle - I'm all for the leg hair falling out! I just had my hair highlighted and it didn't make a difference in the rate of loss for me. The hairs falling out because of the surgery and protein depletion 5 months ago - the root shafts of the hair were effected and that's why it has taken so long for the loss to start (the hair had to grow long enough that the effected protion of the hair shaft grew to scalp level). There's nothing good or bad that we can do now to make any difference in the loss except for keeping your protein intake up so that new growth will start soon. Go ahead and color it - it won't make a difference except for the way it makes you feel to have a new, beautiful look. Go for it! Take care Deb

Hi Trish, When my hair started to fall out I wanted to show less scalp (my hair was very Dark Brown) so I went to the salon and had the color stripped out and strawberry blonde put in. Nothing bad happened. My Nutrition Dr told me to up my zinc by 30mg a day. now after a month my hair loss is slowing down. Good Luck, Carla

I dyed my hair today and I lost a lot of hair, but no clumps or anything. I think it is the after treatment conditioner that I used. I have also noticed that if I don't use conditioner in the shower, I lose less hair. I just use the leave in type like biosilk. The other thing that seems to work is the two in one type shampoo. You know the shampoo and conditioner in one. Let me know if it works for you. It has for me.
