Since the surgery has anyone had a ton of hair loss? I take my vitamins everyday and also started taking the vitamin Biotin recommended by my doctors office. Also started using the shampoo, Nioxin which is supposed to help. I heard its supposed to stop after awhile but I'm worried...

Yep. Bald as this smiley: I can pinch all my hair in the back and it's like less than 1/2 thick! I could wrap a band around it at least 20 times! There's just nothing there. I've been faithful on my vitamins and protein. I've also up'd my biotin to taking 2500 mcg per day. Still... IT'S FALLING OUT EVERY DAY! This has been going on for two months now. It's got to stop... right? Donna

I am using Nourish Hair by GNC, taking all my vitamins and using Nioxin...it's not helping....just praying for it to stop too. Everyone says it will stop soon but I don't know. If not, I guess we will all be skinny and bald together. Lori 231/168/130

Yeah, it may be wig city pretty soon....I had fine hair as a preop so I couldn't afford to lose anymore. Oh well, I'll take bald and skinny anyday over the discomfort I had preop.

Jessica - don't worry. From everything that I've ever read on this site, there's nothing that you can do about the loss and YES - it will grow back. I think we're all in the same boat and we just have to be patient. I just wish that the fat would fall off as fast as the hair take care!! Deb

I hate to take a shower because of how much hair I have to keep taking out of the drain....I take my vitamins and stuff too, but I don't think it has helped. I didn't realize this until I read what Donna wrote, but I can wrap my pony tail holder around 3 times now instead of only 2...Ha, I bet that is why. I thought I had defective holders....lol!! I have quite a bit of hair and its naturally curly and long, so my hair loss is not noticeable to others, but I sure can tell!!! ALOT!! I hope this doesn't last a whole lot longer!!!!!

Hi, I had thin hair to begin with too and it has gotten really bald and patchy. Luckily I have curly hair so the curls provide some coverage...but its really dreadful. Don't waste your money on Nioxin...this is an internal problem and nothing you can put on externally will help. Its also not about your protein level, though keeping that up is important for other reasons. Its about the drop in hormone levels caused by the sudden weight loss and the surgery. IT WILL GROW BACK EVENTUALLY...usually by one year according to the long-term post-ops I have talked to. We're all in the same boat...some more than others. Jo who would like her hair back but wouldn't trade the weight loss for anything VG 11/10/04 331/258/???

Sigh... Just got back from my hairdresser's this evening. My hair is coming out in clumps and what you see on my profile, now doesn't even touch my shoulder. It literally looked like I had taken scissors to the back of my hair and just cut. I posted about this well over a month ago. My surgeon said it is as bad as it gets right now...couldn't be much worse Hoping it stops for all of us soon and that I like my sassy new haircut Roni 240/168/136

Hello Jessica, I too am experiencing the hair loss segment of this journey. My hair has been shedding for the past 2 months. I am faithful on my vitamins, protein and I've also take Biotin and use the Nioxin shampoo. For the past month I've used this product my hairdresser recommends called ApHogee (purchase from beauty supply store). It's a treatment for damaged hair and it stops hair breakage, rebuilds hair structure for six weeks and says its ideal for permed, tinted or relaxed hair. I can honestly say since I've been using this treatment on my hair it doesn't come out as bad as before. I also permed my hair last week and to my surprise I didn't loose anymore hair than usual after perming your hair. I've also noticed that my hair hasn't been coming out in clumps as before, so something in this product is working. I will tell you...this product makes your hair rock hard when after you sit under the dryer and allow it to dry, but that's what its supposed to do and it doesn't smell that great either. Again, this is what my hairdresser recommened I use and I have not been disappointed. My surgeon told me that this process will last a few months but your hair does grow back. Cassandra
