5 months out and I've lost 89 pounds FOREVER!
Had my surgery Nov 2, 2004 and as of today I'm sporting size 16 pants and am light on my feet at 221! YEAH! I confess I've not followed an exercise regimen as I should and am trying to put one into motion now. I'm hoping with daylight savings time here I will have a chance to get some walking in after work while it's still light outside. I'm quickly approaching my personal goal of 185 for which I will then have this extra skin removed. I guess it's time to start researching P.S.'s in my area. Anybody know of a good one in the Napa or Sonoma County area?
I had my surgery the same day as you. I was 329 and today I'm 265. I'm not happy with my weight lost. Please tell me your secret and what you are eating and how much exercising you are doing.

I think you should be very proud of yourself Latonia! 64 pounds is a HUGE accomplishment! Keep up the good work and try to stay positive. I have hit some road bumps along the way and began to feel depressed but no matter how fast or slow the weight has continued to come off. I will be honest, I have not followed a very strict diet or exercise regimen..I think most of my weight loss has just been simply from lack of eating. I only consume about 400-500 caleries a day. I just suffered from a gallbladder attack last week which put in the ER ...so now I have to really watch my fat intake even more closely. I have come to the conclusion that I need to focus on more protein and less carbs. As far a exercise goes...I don't do much. I have a toddler which keeps me running but other than the occasional exercise video or trying to park far away from the store etc. is about all I have been doing. Try to keep your head up and remember how much better you feel at 265 instead of 329! It's only been 5 months...we are both doing GREAT! ((hug))

Has your surgeon prescribed a medication for preventing Gall Bladder problems when consuming fats? I take something called Urso, and it was prescribed for me to take once a day for six months only. I suppose that is the most critical time period for the weight loss. I am down 103lbs since November and was very happy with the progress.
Eat mostly protein, try to limit your carbs to vegetables and fruit.
My Doctor told me I should consume between 600-800 calories for the first few months and I've done it with mostly protein. I love an occasional Jello instant or "Cook n' Serve" chocolate or vanilla sugar free fat free pudding. What a thrill! Good luck. Hope you feel better. Remember, If you are going to exercise regularly, get enough food. Don't try to starve and exercise at the same time. You will get sick.

Hey sweetie...
You young things and your speedy metabolisms!
My surgery was November 10th and I am down a little over 70 lbs. But I'm fine with that...feel fantastic. Also, it sounds like I eat more than you.
Don't do plastic surgery up here. What you will need is big time and you should let the big boys in the city do it.
Talk with Dr. J. about it. He works with a Dr. Bermudez at CPMC who came to the Petaluma support group. He was wonderful...young and handsome too!
But he works closely with our docs and is experienced at post-WLS plastic surgery. Talk to Sharon who is on the lapsf list...she just had a whole lower body lift.
I'd love to see you soon.
Congrats!! Jo
I had my surgery 5 months ago today and I have 90 lbs off. I am thrilled. I started using flax seed that I grind daily in my diet and 80 grams of protein and the weight is moving again. I would've never guessed that flax seed has made my bowel movements improve 20 fold. And high protein everyday keeps me from getting hungry. Sandy in Tucson
