Forgive me Lord, for I have sinned....

Well, decided to do a baking project with my almost 3 year old today and we chose brownies. So, we baked them up, which was fine. But, as I was cutting them into squares and the crumbs and chunks were disassembling from the brownies, I nibbled...a lot! Unfortunately, I don't dump...yet...so all I have is my guilt to keep me in line. So here is my confession. I have eaten probably an entire brownie between all the "leftovers" in the pan and we aren't talking about an itty bitty sized piece of brownie. Now I am flooding myself with water in hopes to drown it out of my system and then the brownies are going to work with hubby. Thank God AF is on her way out so these temptations won't bother me so much in a couple days!! Just had to confess since nobody was looking... Erica 258/190/125

Oh Ericka I have been there and done that so don't beat yourself up. My 12-year old neice lives with me (she is as thin as a rail so doesn't worry about calories, fat, etc.) and is always baking for her friends so I really have to 1.) have lots of control, 2.) be out of the house when she is doing it 3.) do something else or otherwise I would eat baked goods all the time. I posted last week that i fell off the bandwagon partly because I was PMS'ing and just because I was in a mood for whatever reason. Someone on the board told me to just look forward and not beat myself up over what I had done. She was right. Its funny because in Oprah's magazine for this month she says the same thing. You did it, learn from it and then know that the next minute in front of you is a chance to make a new decision. Take care, Cari2702

Hi Erica, I will probably get blasted for this but I don't think having a treat now and then is going to ruin you. As long as you don't do it all the time. I spoke with my doctor about this issue because I always bake cookies for everyone at Christmas and of course I had to taste one or two She said that having a treat every now and then was fine. So don't beat yourself up over it. Teresa

Teresa no flaming here. My doctor says that there is nothing wrong with an occasional bite or two of something you love. Just make sure it is after a full meal, he says this way it limits how much you can eat and prevents dumping. He also would prefer you do this after the weightloss phase, but knows that everyone has something once in a while. Take care KatherineL

I had to laugh, I did the EXACT same thing this weekend. I didn't eat much but just enough to make me feel guilty. I was fine making them but when I was cutting them - OMG. The smell just got to me so I nibbled a corner - best part. I just made sure that was all I did, went right back to good behavior and dropped an LB the next day. So take it easy, we are human and slip. You didn't kill anyone or steal a brownie from a baby so be easy on yourself.

Seriously I agree with the others, don't beat yourself. This surgery isn't about never having brownies again. It's about forming life changing habits that will keep us healthier. Right now we have the honeymoon period in which to establish those great habits of learning what a portion size is, and which foods are good for your body. Some day we will all be like everyone else. And I think most of the world eats brownies or Betty Crocker would be out of business.

I too have nibbled brownies! I felt a "sinking" feeling afterwards, but didn't have any bathroom issues. I must say that as bad as I felt about 'cheating' by taking the nibbles (which didn't even add up to a 2" x 2" brownie altogether.... if I think about what I would have eaten prior to WLS!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not doin' too bad! Just get back on track, don't beat yourself up! Donna
