My surgery was 11/18, and I'm down 88 lbs now. I've also been on a plateau of sorts, spent all of Feb going between 261 and 262, now I've suddenly dropped to 255 and I've spent a week or so going from 255 to 257. I was in a 4X tops and 3X bottoms, now I'm in 2X tops and 1X bottoms, don't know what that translates to in "real world" sizes. The bottoms are getting too big though, so I know I'm losing inches even if the scale doesn't move! How much you lose depends on how much you started with. I was also pretty sick for the month of December, and living on practically nothing in the hospital, so I think I got a headstart on a lot of weight loss. I think everyone in our "birthmonth" is doing great! I notice we've all hit our first real plateaux at the same time, too... Lorri 343/255/whatever I end up at

Debbie, All us November post ops are right there with you! How quickly we forget what we looked like a short 4 months ago! My surgery was on Nov. 19 and I have dropped 63 lbs. to date. I also am only dropping a pound or two per week - pretty defeating after losng so quickly after surgery. Do yourself a favor and spend a little time at this website: www.fitday.com I discovered fitday from someone else's post here at OH. Take the time to fill in your weight loss since surgery. Also list your goal weight and the date that you would like to reach your goal. I did this for myself and realized that I am halfway there... I just never looked at it from that perspective. Furthermore, the website tells you how much you need to lose per week to reach your goal weight by the date you selected. It shows a graph of how much you have lost and it really does look like a downhill ski slope! I indicated that I wanted to be 150 lbs. by Christmas Day - that would mean I would have lost 135 lbs. in 13 months. Amazingly, the site indicated that I only need lose 1.71 lbs. per week to reach my goal! You know, I feel like I can do that... and hopefully losing at that rate will mean less excess skin. I hope this suggestion helps you - I know how depressing it can be to try so hard only to step on the scales and see no change (or the dreaded gaining a pound)! My Doctor, Psychologist (required by my surgeon) and Nutritionist suggest not to weigh everyday. I still do it and even keep a log book, but I know they are right. We would be happier if we weighed once a week and then we would see the results. Hang in there and go to fitday.com for some real encouragement! Dawn H
