Really, I think I just want someone to tell me to keep going! I'm almost 20 weeks postop and I'm down 56lbs. It's slow going, but it's going. Some days it gets frustrating because the weight's not flying off. I'm about 6-10lbs from fitting into a size 16 - I think when that happens I'll feel like I've really hit a goal. Food is a little boring right now but that's ok, I can live with that as long as I keep seeing results. Do you guys ever feel discouraged even though the scale is moving in the right direction? It just seems like my ultimate weight loss goal is very far off on the horizon. I hope you all take care and have a great week! Debbie

Debbie, I know how you feel! I've lost 61 pounds but I haven't lost ANYTHING in the past 3 weeks. THREE WEEKS! This is my first really LONG plateau. I get scared thinking "this is it?" "that's all I'm going to lose!" etc... Don't get me wrong.... I appreciate losing the 61 lbs, but I certainly would not have had the surgery (risks etc...) to lose only 60 lbs. I did it to lose 120 lbs! So I try to just keep telling myself "Self, it's a plateau. You will lose more!". The power of positive thinking? I hope it works! Donna 255/194/135

Hi Debbie, I had my surgery about week after you and i've also lost 56 lbs. I'm currently in a 16 pants. It is a great feeling. I think you're doing fine. As the others said some of us lose it slowly and others lose it faster. I feel that slowly is best. It gives me a chance to try to tone as I lose and maybe not end up with so much excess skin. Do you feel healthier? Because although we all want to look slimmer, it's really more important that we get healthier. I feel great. I no longer take asthma meds and a few weeks ago my pcp lowered my blood pressure meds. I also have more self esteem. I don't look in the mirror and want to cry when I see what's looking back at me. Cheer up. You will look and feel great at the end of this amazing journey. Hugs! Good luck and keep us all updated. ~Angel 222/166/120 bmi 32.4 Lap RNY 11/10/04

Thanks for your input you guys! It's so nice to have someone to bounce your feelings off of!! I'm going to keep exercising and eating right and I know that the weight will keep coming off. It's just some days when you need a friend to help you see that you're going in the right direction. I'm glad that I have those friends here!! You're all great!! Debbie

You know - I know none of you - & yet yesterday I felt a little down & posted it - & the post that debbie placed here & all of your responses tell me that we're all very close to the same place & same level of growth, frustration, joy etc in our journey it's encouraging & though I may not actually know any one of you - I feel a connection which is very positive in the rough & great times.

Hi Debbie Think about it...-56 lbs is a great weight loss !! Have you ever lifted a 60 lb weight at the gym? Try carrying 12 bags of potatos next time you are at the supermarket . Go easy on yourself, you are doing great! Boy, I dream about the day I almost fit into a size 16 . I am down -84 lbs and just started fitting into a size 22. But when I started, I was stuggling to fit my butt into a size 30/32. We all, including myself, are so hard on ourselves, time to celebrate our continued "success"!! Susan 11/24/04 376/292/190
