A little depressed again
Boy this is the same rollercoaster I've been on before - obsessesed - the scale hasn't moved - I'm stuck at 68 pounds down - I think I'm eating too much - falling into old bad habits of maybe snacking too much - though I do choose protein as my snack of choice... Really feel stupid about myself. I have the same old tendencies - grazing, making poor choices, feeling like I need to snack in the evening - wanting things I shouldn't have & wondering if I'm eating right... Think I need to do the fitday thing & see how I really am doing rather than assuming.
Anyways - I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow - just a day of poor me's & frustration that I've stalled again.
Please ignore
Pamela,
Definately use fitday. I use it every day. I was told by my surgeon's office that as long as I wanted to lose weight, I should stay under 1000 calories and get 50-60 grams of protein in a day. They say anymore than that and I could gain weight. Fitday will help you greatly.
This is what I do. I get in 700-1100 calories a day, mostly keep it under 1000. I do less than 50 carbs a day, trying to stay under 40. I get in at least 55 grams of protein a day, and try to get in 65-70 for now.
We have lost about the same amount of weight. I am coming up on 70 now.

Hi Pam
I just went for my 3 month checkup last week and I am down -84 lbs. At this point I have noticed that stalls are normal. The weight isn't going to drop as fast as the first month. If you don't eat "enough" calories than your body goes into starvation mode and won't let go of the fat. I had a 13 day stall (I thought it was a plateau), called my dr and he told me it is too early for a plateau...up my calories & water. He said I should be eating between 1100-1500 calories a day now. I do alot of walking, about 4 miles a day. If you exercise you need to have those calories so you can burn fat. The dr was right, when I upped my calories ( I was only averaging 900-1000), upped my water, the weight began to come off again. I average like 2-3 lbs every 7 days now, and I'm fine with that. As long as the scales come down and not up, I would be happy at 1-2 lbs a week. My dr also reminded me that a healthy weight person maintains their weight eating 2500 calories a day, and also our bodies absorb less than those who haven't had suregry . I think your doing great

Hi there.
I understand where you are, have a lot of the same feelings. Been worrying that I'm going to fail again. Struggling with years of bad habits and emotional eating. But I figure this is a new beginning and time to stop beating up on myself for any mistakes I make. Don't be too hard on yourself. Just take a moment to re-group and re-focus. In the overall scheme you're doing great.
I haven't tried fit day but use a food diary to record what I eat. But I have checked it out and it looks good.
best wishes,
diane
Pamela,
You're fine. You're on track. I do think you're getting about 700 calories too much in a day. Cut back and I bet you'll start to see the weight fall off again. You've done great so far. When was the last time you lost so much weight so fast?? Today is a new day. Keep track of your calorie intake and keep sticking to the protein choices.
Take care!
Debbie
Don't beat yourself up!! Just pick yourself up and get back on track!!! I know I have gone through periods of not feeling like I am doing well, but this week, I started back to my 2 protein shakes and only eating at meals and I lost 4 pounds yesterday!!! You are doing great! Just keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi there Pamela,
Chin up ... my surgery was 11/10/05 and I'm down 70 lbs or so. Calories- I have my days ... and today is one of them. I think you are probably getting too many calories. You might try lowering the calories - and replacing some of them with protien shake calories. You will be fine. Just remember- we didn't get here overnight, and it isn't gonna disappear that way either.
