Hey guys this getting to me......so I'm hoping to find some answers. I don't have any problems no nausea, no vomiting, no dumping but, I can eat more than most post ops and I'm not losing like most post ops. I have lost only 36.5 lbs. I drink 10-14 glasses of water a day. Exercise a minimum of 5 days a week for 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hours per day. I eat low carb and I get 70-80 grams of protein per day. I have only lost 1 lb. so far this month.......I feel like this is not working for me. I know the closer you get to goal the harder it is but I'm still at least 83 lbs. from goal! I've been to see my surgeon about this and he doesn't know what the problem is. I've done an upper GI and am doing a scope soon to check things out. Has anyone on this board had similar issues and did they resolve, how? I hope someone has an answer for me I am really starting to get totally bummed about this and now even wonder was WLS for me? Thanks for your help - Debbie

Hi Debbie, Do you know how many calories you are taking in a day? Your body could be in starvation mode especially since you do excercise. If you haven't already go to fitday.com and try logging in your foods and excercise. I can understand your frustration and hope this helps. Let me know. Teresa

Thanks Teresa for responding. I get in about 1000 calories a day. For example today I've had B-1 Power Crunch protein bar, Sn-2 string cheeses, L-1/2 chicken salad with a few cherry tomatos, later I'll have a Sn-protein drink(130 cal.) and for supper about 2-3 oz. some type of chicken probably or ground beef. Last night I walked 2.4 miles in 46 minutes. Tonight I'll go to the gym for a combined workout of cardio & weight machines for about 1 1/2 hrs. I don't feel like I'm eating too little but I'm very frustrated at the weight loss. I'm not dropping inches like a lot of people will say "well I'm not moving on the scale but I'm dropping inches" that's not me. I'll try the fitday thing. Thanks - Debbie

Hi Debbie I don't have any answers for you but i wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you, I know you must be frustrated. Hopefully your doctor will have some answers for you. You seem to be in the range calorie wise that a lot are, I've noticed the range seems to be from about 600-1000 cals a day. Could it possibly have to do with your thyroid, or any meds that your on. I had to take neurontin for a while pre-op and I ate 1000 cals a day and walked 2 miles a day and did not lose an ounce for 3 months, so needless to say the neurontin went down the toilet lol. Anyhow let us all know what they find out, and always remember you have support here. Take care KatherineL

Hey Debbie - It sounds like you're doing all the right things. I'm a slow loser too. I had a total of 110lbs that I want to lose and so far I've lost 56. It's coming off slowly, but it's coming off. Just keep on doing what you're doing. Maybe reduce your caloric intake by 100 cals and see if that helps. Also, you're doing weight training, and as you know, muscle weights more than fat. Eventually, that muscle will aid you in losing the fat but in the begining while you're building it up it might slow the weight loss. Don't loose hope and keep in touch. We all care and want to give you encouragement. Good luck, Deb

Debbie, I agree, it doesn't sound like much. However, I don't have any answers really.... Maybe it's because you're exercising alot and building muscle? If so, there should still be a point where the pounds start coming off. Maybe ask your surgeon what size he made your pouch? Some make the pouch a little larger. Also, maybe not a lot of the intestine was bypassed (which in my opinion is not a bad thing.. you will absorb more nutrients). I hope you see results soon, keep us posted! Donna

Thanks for everyone *****plied I appreciate your time and thoughts. I asked my surgeon my pouch size and he said 1 oz./the size of my thumb, rny proximal. They also checked the size when I had the upper GI and they said a normal small pouch for a gastric bypass patient. The only thing I guess is I technically am still considered diabetic. My last A1c was 6.0 and that was over the range for a normal person 4.5 -5.7. I take 2mg of Amaryl twice a day. My sugar is anywhere between 64-130 so maybe that has something to do with the slowness? Thanks again everyone! Debbie
