question about fitday.com

Hi guys, I figured it was time for me to start writing down what I eat and how much activity I have every day. I know some of you are doing the fitday.com site and I think it's a great site! I wanted to know what everyone else was putting down for calorie intake, carbs, protein and fat. What are some good guidelines for us? I mean, I try to keep my calories between 800 and 1200 per day....is that too much? I know I need at least 65 grams of protein a day. But, I don't know about the carbs and fat?? I just stay away from them as much as possible! Any ideas are helpful! Thanks Megan B

Hi Megan, I use fitday every day for about 1 month now. It really helps me keep track. I try very hard to stay under 1000 calories, at least 50-60 grams protein, and under 50 carbs. I really try to stay around 40 or below, some days are not so easy. I just try to limit the fat intake as much as possible, I don't really pay too much attention to it. Good luck! Pam

Hi Megan when I was using fitday regularly.. I was between 1200 and 1400 per day.. which is in range according to my surgeon.. Take your carb and fat intake goals from your dietician.. they can tell you what percentage of your foods should be what.. if you concentrate on your protein first.. and then make smart choices for everything else (keeping a healthy eye on fat, sodium and carbohydrates), you're going to do fine.. There should be some tools on fitday.com to figure out what your intake of carb/fat should be if you don't have a dietician or nutritionist to consult. Stef Lap RNY 11/12/04 390 -> 313 -> 175

Thanks for responding everyone.... I filled out my first day on fitday.com. My calorie intake isn't a problem. It's the fat and carb intake! Yikes! It's a good thing I did pilates tonight! It definitely keeps you in check with what your eating! I tried to convince my boyfriend that if we had "vigerous sex" (as it says under calories) I could possibly burn about 50 calories in an hour! He just laughed at me as if to say...."keep dreaming honey"....."stick to your pilates"! LOL... Take care, megan B
