Gotta vent somewhere so here goes my pity party for the day. You heard the story about my labs...... my potassium was at a crtical low, my red blood cells and my iron are pitifully low. Now it seems like I can't get out of bed ..... and if I do then I feel like I have run a marathon and it takes three days to recover. I called in sick last week, my kid got sick with the runs.... it seems like I have been in bed for a week.....paychecks are low.... can't pay the bills.... things are stacking up alll over the place and life right now is just not fun. Old relationships are surfacing, old fears and insecurities are surfacing .... all of this and my weight loss seems to be speeding up.... am i getting anorexic?.... not eating much, and not caring much..... taking my vitamins and supplements but feel like ka-ka. I am a single mom so there is no such thing as a day off.... i feel soooooooo tired! Are all of you back to work and up to speed in your "normal" llives???? B

Wow - sounds like a pretty crappy time - I'm bringing the soy latte & turkey jerky & a bunch of bananas for the potassium to the pity party - go ahead - you can take time to feel lousy... Sounds like you got alot going on!!! Not a single parent myself - not a parent at all... but I imagine there are times when it can all be pretty overwhelming. Wish I knew more to help you on the potassium and iron issue - that can affect your heart can't it? I hope your doc is following your care closely? & I would imagine that low levels of both of those are probably most of what's going on with your energy level. What is he/she doing to counter this? My prayers go to you tonight - I hope you'll let me know if/when things turn around - Iron loss has always been an issue for me - & I know it saps my energy when I'm low.l Please take care of yourself Many blessings.

B - Did the doc say what you should do to reverse the low potassium and iron? I know that being anemic can make you really drag (low red blood cell count). I know that broccoli and raisins are high in iron but I don't know if you can handle those "pouch" wise. I'm the mother of three boys and I have a significant other to help me out - that exhausts me so I can't imagine having to do it alone. Don't let yourself get down. You'll get your energy back. How much weight have you lost so far? Focus on long term goals and getting your labs back up. Keep complaining to us - we're always here to listen!! Take care! Debbie

Oh B, I'm sooo sorry you are feeling so bad and things are not going so well for you. I wish there was something I could do for you. I'll keep you in my prayers. I've been back to work almost immediatly after surgery but I don't have a physical job. Hubby and I own a towing company and I dispatch and run the office. So I sit most of the day and answer phones. But I really hope you are feeling better real soon!! ~Angel 222/169/120 BMI 33 Lap RNY 11/10/04

I'm sorry things aren't going well for you. I hope your doc has you on more supplements to build you back up. I know there are fruits & veggies that can help, but I'd wonder if you'd be able to get enough in, pouch wise. I know they try but I'm not sure they totally prepare us for the emotional side of loosing weight. How to deal with a world that sees us differently than we see ourselves. And all the changes we're going thru. Hope you start to feel better. & Vent all you need. take care diane

Hi Sister, I am in the same situation as you are. I have my procedure on Nov 9th 2004 and in the last 2 months I have felt very lethargic and unmotivated. I have 3 kids ages 6,8, and 9 and a husband. But I just hope we can get to the bottom of this whole hormonal situation, because I know that these feelings are very real and they have to be addressed as soon as possible with a professional if possible. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope you will think of me, because you are not alone, and may women go thru this, and at least we have each other to confide in. I am sending you a big strong hug---We will weather this storm--keep in touch!!! Lorrie Ann LOL

Thank you for all your kind words and prayers! I finally got to see my surgeon and my PCP This is the long and short of it: Started on Geritol (apparently the iron in this is more readily absorbed) Started on SlowFe (a time released iron) Started on Potassium supplement Will begin to trial off the blood pressure medication Must see my rheumatoligist Must get more labs drawn.... we will see in about a month!
