Hi, For all my whining I pretty much stick to what I'm supposed to be eating. I've had some troubles with food, usually because I ate too fast, but haven't dumped yet. The evil child in me wants to test my luck and see what happens if I were to eat something loaded with sugar. I'm kind of afraid that I'd be able to tolerate it and then that battle would be on. I'm not going to try it but was wondering if anyone else has that devil on their shoulder? The one that tells you to eat something you know you shouldn't? The same one that makes you wonder "what would happen if I stuck my finger in the electrical outlet?" thanks diane

Hi Diane, Well I have tried candy and I have been fine, my problem is eating Ice Cream, if I eat more than 3 bites, it messes with me, so I try not to have it. (it is my favorite thing in the world). I started off slow with the candy, I ate a mini butterfinger and that is what I do when I am craving sugar wishing you the best Tina 11/29/04

I've stayed away from candy and other sweets. I'll go for sf pudding instead. Don't want to tempt myself with a trigger food. It's just that what if, and will it make me sick... foolish thanks diane

Oh YES the devil has been on my shoulder daily!!! Some days I win somedays he does... Apparantly I CAN eat a few potato chips or a choc chip cookie - I know I know - it's so darned dumb - I had this surgery so I could live better & here I am testing the limits... can't believe how hard my lessons are learned.... Right now it doesn't seem to be THAT big of a deal - I'm still losing - I can't eat much more than a bite or two of forbidden foods - But what about when I can - when the pouch does well - THEN what - I had actually hoped this time now would help me change some bad habits. BUT noooooo I'm still the same little addicted whench I was three months ago - I could use some sage advice from some of those other than us newbies - how they changed their wicked ways.... Not really being hard on myself - well a little... but I expected more from myself.

I'm hoping that the more times I resist now the easier it'll be later on. We are still only 3 months (give or take). A life time of habits, right? take care diane

No, you are not alone. I have been curious and that same little devil on your shoulder has visited me too! I have several friends who have "crossed that line" and sugar didn't bother them. THAT SACRES ME!!!! I don't want to know if I can tolerate it. My biggest problem before was sugar. I was a sweetaholic and like you if I found out it didn't bother me......UHHHH.....I would be in trouble. So, for now, i'm not gona go there (haven't puked yet and don't want to). Melinda P.S. Diane, This sounds so silly when I actually write it down but I ate 1 piece of Cap'n Crunch from my son's cereal bowl just to see what would happen . Nothing did and I didn't want any more, I was just tempted! The other thing I tried was a sugar free toll house cookie - my DH bought them and made them thinking of me which was sweet but I'm here to say - boy did I dump - and from just one!! I never want another cookie again - at least today - lol!! Take care! Deb

Doesn't sound silly to me. I use to buy cereal to snack on, thought it was a slightly better choice. Wonder what caused your trouble if they were sugar free... thanks diane

Deb, Boy, you have to watch out for those sugar free sweets! I used to eat them when I found out I was diabetic, and boy did I ever get sick on them. It is the sugar alcohols in them that really do a job on you. I stay away from sugar free sweets unless it is pudding. I don't have a problem with pudding. If I really want something sweet, either I have a sf popsicle or have a small piece of candy or a cookie. Pam
