Well I finally got my period . Never thought I would be so happy to get it!! I had surgery on 11/24/04 and haven't had one since 10 days before my surgery. I have been feeling bloated for the past month . But now I am feeling much better and the good news is that I am down another -5 lbs., talk abou****er bloat! Now I hope they start to normalize from now on. I am starting to see the weight loss , especially yesterday when I put on a pair of jeans that used to fit like a bologna skin and now I can fit a friend in them with me . I want to shop for new clothes so bad, but I refuse to keep buying new clothes . Maybe another -30 lbs I will have no choice . I am so overwhelmed with all of this, I can't believe that soon I will be in the 200's, I haven't been there in over 10 years, oh I'm going to cry!! Progress, hard work, dedication and prayer definately pay off. God bless all.... Susan 11/24/04 375/302/190

Congrats on getting your period. I wonder why you haven't had it since surgery. I've had mine every month like clockwork. I take birth control pills maybe that's why i'm so regular. I had no idea that people weren't getting their periods from the surgery. ~Angel 222/174/120 BMI 34 Lap RNY 11/10/04

Congrats on both losing the weight and getting your period. I had the opposite where I was non-stop menstration! I THINK its going back to a normal cycle (I was always a bit late every month). Yes surgery does this- I was warned by my bariatric coordinator (I have PCOS) to expect these types of issues. Its due to the hormone changes our body goes thru with this surgery. Keep up the good work! You might want to consider the clothing exchange- I know at my support group they have boxes of different sizes that you can pick and choose clothing to take home with you. Blessings! Jennifer

CONGRATULATIONS!!! On both the Weight Loss and FINALLY getting your period. I have been pretty regular with my period too, except it came while I was in the hospital right after my surgery.. a couple of weeks early. But it has been regular since then. You and I are almost surgery TWINS!! I had mine on November 23rd! I am down 64 pounds and am so happy. I did have a TON of complications over the past couple of months, but I think the worst of it is over and I am on my way back to health! Great Job and Good Luck with the rest of your journey. We'll have to keep in touch!! Tracey 289/225/140

Hey Susan! I just got my period yesterday too! Let's see.....I went off of birth control 1 month before surgery (November 2, 2004). I was on birth control because I never had periods (due to my weight). So, I totally understand and share your celebration for having a period! You just feel more "normal", ya know? I feel like I'm an actual woman! The women in my family don't understand my frustrations and think that I should be happy to not have periods! They don't understand.... I've lost another 6 pounds (probably water weight) since I got my period. It's encouraging, isn't it! Congrats!! Megan B
