Hey everyone, On Thursday I will be 15 weeks post op. So far I have lost 47lbs. I have a total of 110 to lose. Is that loss slow?? I feel like I should have lost a lot more by now. I'm doing all the right things, exercising every day on an exercise bike, eating between 65-90 grams of protein a day and drinking all my water. Hardly any carbs and no sugar or junk. What are your thoughts? Should I be losing faster or am I on track? Thanks for the input!! Debbie

Hi Deb, I hope you are on track because we had surgery the same day and I have lost about the same amount as you . I am almost 5'7" and weighed 271, I now weigh about 220 (unofficially on my scales). I don't go back to the doctors until 3/8 for an official weigh in. I am pretty happy with my loss so far and hope that it continues. Good luck! - Teresa

Teresa - Surgery twins! I guess that we're both doing good. You have 2 inches on me so you probably look better than I do! I started at 243 and am now 196. I'm feeling pretty happy but wish that I could squeeze into size 16 jeans! My next goal. Keep in touch and good luck! Deb

Hiya Debbie, I think you are doing great!! You have lost 47 lbs in 15 weeks!! Could you ever have imagined being able to do that? They say that the average person loses all their weight in 1 year to 18 months, so from the looks of it you are above average in your rate of weight loss. In a little over three months you lost 47 lbs so you have at least 9 months to lose the other 63. Again, I think you are doing great!! Keep up the good work! God bless you and keep you, ~Andrea

Everybody's metabolism is different, Debbie. If you compare your loss to others, it'll make you nuts. As a rule, bigger people and men tend to lose a lot faster. I had my surgery a few days after you and I've lost around 52 pounds. but I'm more interested in how I feel and clothing size. I've gone from a 24/26 to an 18/20. My goal is to get down to maybe a 12/14. Congratulations on the success you've already achieved. SueZQ

I think it sounds like you are doing everything like you should and are doing great!! One thing that has really helped me is keeping track of my inches lost! It is one thing to say I've lost 47 pounds, but when you measure your body and really see how many inches and from where that you have lost, it really gives a great sense of achievement!!! Also, look in the mirror a lot!! When you look in full size mirrors now, you can tell the huge differences in your body!!! Keep up the good work!!

HI Debbie, I had my surgery 6 days after you and I have lost 48 lbs. So I guess we are both around the same. I am 5'0" and I started at 222. I am now 174 lbs. I also take my measurements as well. Everyone is right. Different bodies, different metabolisms. We all lose at different speeds and such. But if you ask me I think we are both doing pretty good! Keep up the good work. It use to make me crazy seeing other people losing quicker..but you know what there may be others that are envious of you thinking you are losing quicker than them. I think you're on track. ~Angel 222/174/120 BMI 34.2 Lap RNY 11/10/04

You have lost almost 43% of your total weight that you want to lose. I have been told it takes around 18months to lose what is expected so I would say you are ahead of the curve.

Hey there....sounds like we are all together in this journey even after WLS. I had surgery on 11/29/04 and I am down 45lbs. I haven't weighed in lately, because the weight is slowing down. I have another 60lbs to go. I just keep telling myself, slower is better than too fast. It helps with the skin issues! Good luck, and God Bless!!!
