Have any of you experienced insatiable hunger? Over the last couple of days I have been soooo hungry. I have done all my protein and water and watch my caloric intake but still my body feels like it is starving and I always feel hungry so I have been snacking like crazy. The funniest thing is that I am also losing weight. I was at a plateau for about 3 weeks and then over the last several days I have dropped 5 lbs. Any thoughts?

Hi Cari, I am feeling the exact same way the last few days. I had my surgery the same day and have also been plateaued for almost 3 weeks. I am still waiting for the 5lb weight loss. I have read alot about not feeling hungry for about 6 months. Wishful thinking. How about 6 weeks. Its hard because I have not had not had any eating problems at all. I have not tried concentrated sugar or alot of fat. Good luck this week. It seems to be easier when I am at work. Susan

I know I get this way right before my time of the month. I also don't lose weight until this time. It seems like I drop all my weight one week out of the month and nothing for the other three weeks. Was like that for me before surgery as well. Who knows - Teresa

Hi Cari, Ohmygawd, this post could have been written by me!! I had the same feeling all weekend long. It seemed as soon as I ate one thing, I was finding something else to eat. I bought some SF pepperment patties, which were delicious, tasted just like the real thing...until about two hours later, when the malitol kicked in, and it was as if I'd eaten a box of ex-lax. Not fun. It kept me in check on Sunday, but I still downed a can of soup, some crackers, cheese, a few bites of turkey and mashed potatos. I'm not having the feeling today, thank goodness. As far as weight loss, I had a similar experience. I put away the scale after not losing anything for about 2 weeks, then got on and lost 8 or 9 pounds. Stalled over the weekend, though (no surprise.). My feeling is, this too shall pass, and I need to drink more water to curb the hunger. Good luck! Heather

I had read that somewhere between 2 and 3 months head hunger starts to set in. I would really try to listen to the body, not the head about eating! I know it is hard, I have struggled with this all of my life, but now it should be easier with our stomachs so small!!!!

Advice... Watch the carbs. Keep them really low (under 40 a day). Particularly them simple (or white) carbs. Yes...that means mashed potatoes. No fruit juice. You'll be surprised how much better the hunger is if you keep the carbs low. Works for me..is doctor's recommendation as well. Jo

Hi cari The two words that comes to mind with your post is HELL YES! I have been feeling like I am hungry all the time lately. But I am thinking it is because of the few poor choices I have been making lately. One of the responses says it all. Carbs, carbs, carbs.. I use to live on them and I was always hungry no matter how much I ate. And also the dreaded "head hunger" is killing me. Susan 11/24/04 375/306/190
