Frustrated ~ Lurkers Help Too!!!
Good Morning,
I need your help. I have been stuck at 270 lbs. for roughly a month now and I'm 12 weeks Post-Op on Monday. Now I don't want you to think that I am ungrateful, I just want to make sure that I am using my tool to it's greatest efficiency. I am working out 6-7 days a week for a minimum of an hour combining cardiovascular training and light weight training. I am eating roughly 2 times daily with 1 or 2 snacks. My protein intake is between 90-110 grams daily. I am taking in my fluids and vitamins ok. I know my body has to adjust and I have thought of that. I have been on the protein train 3 times since the weight loss stopped and that did not work. I have increased and varied my workouts twice to no avail. I am down a total of 76 lbs. and I truly thank God for that, but I need to get this thing started again.
So my question is does anyone have any suggestions to get the scale moving again?

What about your calorie intake - are you getting enough? You might have to eat more, especially since you work out so much. I have seen where that has helped others. You might want to talk to your doctor though, before making any changes to what you are eating.

so funny - that we should be hearing the words eat more - but I agree - you might need to eat more - (protein seems a little high - but is it possible that you are transferring fat for muscle - which we all knows weighs more - but looks better ) but do... talk to your doctor Sounds to me like you are doing everything right - Infact - sooooooo much better than me I have got to get to the gym.

What is your caloric intake??? I'm not sure if I necessarily agree with the other reponses on eating more, because if you're taking in 5000 calories to get those 100 grams of protein, and you are burning 5000 calories a day on an average day at your activity level...you're not gonna lose any weight.
I've been doing a lot better in the weight loss area since I started keeping a "very tight" log on how much I'm eating. I downloaded a program from "Fitday.com", which is an extremely helpful tool to assist me. So the suggestion from the "Ole Sarge" is to closely monitor caloric input vs caloric output.
But the best advise of all is to make sure you voice your concerns with your doctor when you see him/her!!! I assume you have a 3 month appointment coming up real soon.
Best wishes Bro...
Frenchy! it will start moving again.i held in one sopt for an entire month--it wouldnt move an ounce..........and then all of a sudden it took off again...........it is great you are getting your protein in......and water.......sometimes as someone else said if you goose yourself with a few more calories and also alter your workout program it will helps to rev you up again.......you will not hold for long so dont get too worried.i am so amazed and excited for you and what you have lost already....that is just wonderful! take care and good luck, rae
Hi! I had to post as Frenchy was my dad's nickname. I'm sorry you are on a plateau but that is what it is. The main thing is don't rely on the scales too much because then you have negative reinforcement. Maybe weigh once a week only and take those measurements. I have lost 65 pounds in 12 weeks. My weight stopped for a week too but then it moved again. I didn't do anything differently. It just decided it was time. I think eating more often but smaller meals helped me. Good luck and see you on the board.

Hi Frenchy,
First of all, congrats on your weight loss! Secondly, I agree with everyone who has responded so far. It's so important that you track the amount of calories (input and output). I mean, you have to figure that you are a lot more active now then you were before! You have to always make sure that you are burning more calories and consume less. A bit of advice.....chill out on the scale for a few weeks. All of us November surgeries are hitting a plateau about now and I think we need to understand that our bodies are adjusting to all of this change. Muscle weighs more then fat. Try measuring yourself from time to time. Or do more cardio-vascular excercises to burn the calories.
You're going through a plateau right now. But....how do you feel?
Take care and good luck
