Pain in incision area

I had a pain in my left incision area for a while. I had the pain of course right after surgery, but it went away eventually. About a month ago it came back. When I was at my 3 month appointment the Doc said it was the port they did the most work out of. Well, now I have the same shooting type of pain in my belly button incision. Is this normal? Am I just getting some nerve endings back in those areas? Does it sound like something else to anyone? I just don't know what to make of it. It's a sharp shooting pain sometimes and just a "soreness" other times. It feels like it's in the muscle, but what do I know? Oh, I also wear the same type of jeans everyday and the waist is right across this same area?? I don't know if it's cutting into me too much cause I sit most of the day at the computer. Just don't know what to make of it. Donna

Donna, I had my surgery a day before you did. Yesterday I went to have an ultrasound to make sure that my gallbladder wasn't acting up - it's not. I am having the same experience that you are. I knew that it wasn't my gallbladder because it's not a deep pain that I have but more of a muscle soreness. It's even sore to touch. I go back to the doctor for my 3 month checkup on the 16th and I'm going to ask him more about the cause but I think that you might be right, maybe it's just the nerves regenerating. I am a little numb around the actual scars that I have but the pain is under the skin where the muscles were cut. I think it's probably normal and assume that it will eventually go away on its own. If you find out anything more let me know and I'll do the same for you. Take care, Debbie

Debbie, I called my surgeon yesterday. He called in a prescription for me for celebrex. He said it's an anti inflamatory and a pain pill. From my symptoms he seems to think it's muscular and not a hernia. What is odd he said is usually he doesn't see this at 3 months out. So, I was told if it gets worse, come in. If it doesn't get better by Monday with the celebrex, I need to call and come in. I did feel better last night, but this morning I was hurting, now after taking the celbrex I feel better again. So I am praying this is going to work! I hate the thought of it being a hernia and having to have another surgery! Donna 255/202/135

Donna, Thanks for the information. I went and had an ultrasound of my abdomen and it wasn't my gallbladder. I knew that it wasn't because it feels much more like muscle pain. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I'm going to see my doctor on Wednesday. If I get any more insight about what this could be I'll let you know. No hernias for us!!! Take care, Debbie
