Losing slow??
Hey Guys,
Well, here I am with another "losing slow" story. I have upped my protein and water intake. I have been battling between 241-240 for the last week and I am really getting frustrated. I don't know what to do. I have lost 38 pounds since my surgery. Can someone help me? I have been walking too. Thanks

I understand how you are feeling!! I sat at the same weight for almost 2 weeks and was starting to get very frustrated and then last week I lost 9 pounds. When you body is ready to let go of it, it will and you will start loosing again!! Just keep your chin up and don't get down!! It just takes a while for the body to adjust!!!! Good luck and keep up the walking!! You're doing great!
Why do you think you're losing slow? You are messing with your head and success. Repeat after me...I AM DOING GREAT!!!
38 lbs. in 2-1/2 months is FABULOUS!!!
Only you know whether or not you are doing your part with compliance (water, protein, exercise, low carbs) but our bodies lose at their own pace...some slower some faster.
You know all this...stop tripping yourself up. If you are doing the right things you will lose. If you aren't, ask for some help...but don't beat yourself up.
Just my not so humble opinion...keep up the good work!

PUT THE SCALE AWAY !
Honestly, I would way myself when I woke up, with clothes, with out clothes, after I ate after I peed....I was possessed. And very frustrated for about 2 weeks. I made myself pick one day a week to pull it out of the cabinet, and I way 2 times, Wed night right before I walk out the door to work fully clothed/shoed etc, and when I get home in the morning 12 hrs later. (My logic is I weigh at my checkups in the morning after work fully clothes, so do the same at home.)I chart the highest of the 2 and put the evil scale back in its coffin. The difference is you will be much more excited to see even a slow week of total 3 pound loss, rather than every day of up one down one up one etc. Plateaus happen, slow happens, follow the rules, only you know if you aren'****er 64+, protein 60+, vitamins, 30+ min exercise, and whatever else you doctor and nutritionist told ya. Let you body adjust.
Good Luck
Michelle
I agree with the other Michelle that just said to put the scale away. I try to only weigh myself two times a month because otherwise I will get really discouraged and start to torture myself.
You have lost so much weight in two months you should be proud of all the work you have done. Good job!!
Keep up the good work,
Michelle
Hi Cathy.
I am right there with you (in FL too). I have surgery on 11/16/04 and I also have lost 38 pounds. I am exercising (not as much as I could) and following all of the other rules. I know how depressing it is too... especially when you see all of these other post about people losing so much faster. I talked to my nutritionist and she said that I need to eat more and at more regular intervals because I might be in starvation mode. If I can do that the weight loss may pick up. I am going to try that. Let me know if you find something else that works.
PS - I also only allow myself to weigh once a week so that I don't get depressed every day.

Hey Cathy
Yes it seems to be the way it goes. I find that every 15 pounds, I am then struck for a while. I just try not to get to crazy about it. I still weigh myself everyday just out of curiousity but I know I am doing everything right (actually I probably need to eat more) but anyway the weight loss is inevitable this is not maybe weight loss surgery so just stick with it.

Could it be related to your periods? So far I have found that about a week before and then during I don't lose weight. Then it just falls off. I have sometimes retain 5-7 lbs of water weight during this time and it's darn uncomfortable. Check your cycle and see if it matches up. Hope this helps!
