Still can't eat!
I'm over 2 months post-op. amd I still have trouble eating! I can eat soft things like yogurt, mashed potatoes and applesauce...but as soon as I try a piece of chicken or pork, it gets stuck. I hate that feeling! I really feel that I'm not getting enough food intake. Today I had a Van De Kamps fish fillet, and a few spoonfuls of salad. And that will be in for me or I'll be sick. Any advice?
Noel,
So sorry to hear that you're having a hard time. Try cottage cheese (lots of protein), Wendy's chili is really easy to eat and good and try tuna. Work up to harder to digest stuff. Some people have a really hard time with meats for a LONG time. If you're going to eat chicken, try shredding it up before you eat it. I hope this helps somewhat. Hang in there!!

Hi Noel,
I had such a hard time with chicken. Until recently I couldn't eat it. I was so happy to see I finally can. It took me a while to try it again. The time I ate it I threw up. Just keep trying it may change for you too.
I thankfully don't have too bad a time w/ beef or pork. I just have to eat it slowly and make sure I chew it well b4 I swallow it. I take small bites. The meat has to be very moist. If it even looks to tough I won't try it. Good luck!

Hi Noel,
I am sorry to hear about this. I really think you need to talk to your surgeon. I had lots of trouble too, and just recently eating has gotten easier. But, I did call my surgeon and he ordered an upper GI series that turned out fine, and when I saw him today, he was happy that I have not been ill in the past few weeks and told me if it happened again I was going for an endoscopy. I think you may need one to see if the opening from your stomach to your intestines is too small and the food cannot pass properly. It is easily fixed also by using a balloon to widen it. Also, there is a medication to help relax the pouch and help food pass easier. I think it is called Reglan. But, please call your doc and talk with him regarding this matter. After all, what is more important than your health? I hope this can provide you with some help. Wishing you the best.
