Medic Alert Necklace!
I bought my medic-alert necklace from www.americanmedical-id.com.
I have the "Medallion", 14K, and has a small red charm.
It has on the back:
My name
Gastric Bypass
No Blind NG Tube
No NSAIDs
No Tetracycline
I try to wear it all the time. Check out the web site. The prices range from inexpensive to very costly!!
I had heard some things about wearing a medical alert bracelet/necklace and I never knew why. I had asked my surgeons nurse about this as he also had gastric bypass. He hadn't heard anything about this. I was wondering if you would be able to explain this more as I don't know anything about this and what those things are.
Thanks,
Jessica Bakke
Jessica:
My necklace has the following information:
My name
Gastric Bypass
No Blind NG Tube--If you are unconscious, the EMT might put an NG down your throat to your stomach. Since we have a small stomach, the tube should not be forced in.
No NSAIDs--We cannot have "nonsteroidal anti-inflamatory drugs" -- such as Advil.
No Tetracycline--this is for my personal alergy to tetracycline.
