Carbs?

Okay I had surgery Nov 11th. I've lost 42lbs. thus far. I have a question about carbs. I know everyone says go by your drs. advice, which I do, but I was wondering what everyone else thought or their experiences. My dr. says that eating some crackers, and light bread is fine a day with our protein-or eating pretzels and cheese snack paks. What do you all think? My weight loss is slowing down, but I'm sure it's just my body getting use to the new food plan.

Hey Connie I had surgery(open) on Nov 24th and as of Jan 4th I lost 31 lbs.Congrats to you too.Join Curves Jan 4th also and love it.I weigh in the next time on Feb 15th Ieat crackers also.but not enough of them to say I eat them on the carbs scale.Dont eat any bread .If i take one bite I will want more and I love bread and butter more than any thing.Other than BUTTERED popcorn.Yes I eat those Lunchabales(sp) with turkey and cheese and crackers at least 2 times a week at work.Easy lunch for one who is on the go. Keep up the good work pat go.

My nutrionist said I needed to eat some carbs or some of our bodily functions would shut down! I don't eat a lot, but I eat a few triscuts or a bite or 2 of rice. Just so I get in a little each day!!

Connie, Hi! We had surgery on the same day! Congrats to you on your weight loss! I have lost 35. Ok, well, My doc and nutritionist say carbs are ok, yet I have read other things where people say carbs are a big no-no. Here's what I think. This surgery modification is forever . We need to learn how to eat and be healthy as though we are learning for the first time. We need proteins first, but we also can't live solely on them. We need the nutritents and fibers from veggies and fruits and grains. It's just like everything else-the key is everything in moderation. I could never stay on a diet because of deprivation. I would deny myself strictly until I couldn't take any more and then give up. It never worked then and it will never work for me now. I feel lucky to have this new little tummy that helps me have some, but not too much. I will never deny myself of having "some" of something I love, yet I will not ever allow myself to go overboard again. I have a much healthier outlook on eating now and it makes me very happy.I think the most important thing is to concentrate on being healthy and making good food choices, happy and positive and I bet your body will thank you for it. Just my opinoin, but I hope it helps! Laura
