I really don't understand, I'm 8 weeks post I have lost 32 pounds. I'm watching everything, but the scales don't seem to move. Before my surgery when I dieted I would loss fast but I just couldn't stick with the diet for a long term. I make sure I drink my water, I do my protein, I walk I don't know what to do. I get around 900 calories in a day which mainly come from my protein bars. Does anybody know what I should do? Help!!!!!!!!! Kay :')

Kay- First of all 32 pounds is pretty good for 8 weeks out. everyone loses at their own rate and some don't have as much to lose. I am not sure where you started at to begin with but if you have less to lose it will come off slower. Did you take your measurements when you first started? Alot of times when the scale is not moving, you may actually be losing inches. How are your clothes feeling.? Think of the reasons why you had surgery, how is your quality of life now comapred with 8 weeks ago? Also check those protein bars, alot have high carbs and that could be throwing you off a bit. Just somethings to think about. Stay strong, the scale will start moving for you. Janet

Kay, We are surgery date twins.... and I have only lost 28lbs.... I think we all have to relax and trust in our bodies to eventually get the message that we are not going to do the heavy calories again ... and give up the weight.... stubborn bodies they can be!!! Also you might want to up your calories a bit to boost your metabolism a bit?? Your'e doing fine... I sometimes think the emotional stuff around this surgery is the hard part that we don't often get responses to other than on these boards. hang in there B

My doctor believed in cream soups. I helped me. It will help you. Just try it for a couple of days. Let's say 3 days. You can only drink sip soup drinks. TRUST ME!

My doctor told me not to worry about calories or what an item was. I was not able to eat many things and 8 weeks post. I was on a cream soup diet only. I hated it, but it worked. You have to walk at least 30 mins or more every day. I am not the big loser, but I know other that are in are size 4 after. Walk and don't quit. You are not on a diet. If you want to eat something and you are ready for it, just do it. Take a bite and so what...you will be full. The only thing that I can say you, and let it stick, hopefully, is one day you will be small. I am so impressed at my look right now. GO FOR IT!

Kay, This is what I have been told/read on other forums. Our bodies think we are starving them and they go into hibernation mode where they do whatever they can to conserve the weight we have. We are not used to the restriced intake that we now have to live with. Also if you are like me your metabilism is shot from all the yo-yo dieting we have done over the years. I lost 20 lbs the first week and I was so excited. It has slacked off alot since then, so I have increased my workouts time. (From basically nothing to 30-45 minutes of swimming a day) I bet if you keep this up you will have a huge week of weightloss. I have also heard that you shouldnt weigh every day or you will go nuts . Good luck! Joe

He gang!! I am 7.5 weeks out and am I glad to see others posting about this!! I had my surgery 11/22/04 and as of this morning I am only down about 35 lbs. I only had probably less than 90 total to lose. I do wonder if that is why it seems to be so slow for me. but, after reading these posts I feel like i am in good company and won't sweat it too much. I have only lost one clothing size and that is depressing, but when people call me skinny at work, I just glow inside. 218/183 ~kim

I'm 9 weeks out and I have lost 35 lbs. I haven't lost anymore in over a week. I just joined a gym 2 days ago. I'm just going to keep up with what i've been doing and hope for the best. I've read on here that a lot of people hit plateaus after a couple of months. So I'm thinking we are normal. I don't want to believe that this procedure worked for thousands of others and not me. So i'm just waiting patiently for the scale to start moving again. Good luck i'm sure it will move for you too. ~Angel 222/187/120

Kim, You are not losing slow!! I started out at a 40 BMI and the Doctor says if you have a higher BMI you lose larger amounts. As a "lightweight" the weight loss is relatively a lot. I definitely want to lose faster too........we've all waited so long wishing and trying to be thin When I get discouraged I work out harder I figure if the scales not moving I'll at least be firming everything up. I'm trying to stay positive by setting up exercise goals instead weight goals. IT'S AWFULLY HARD TO STAY OFF THAT SCALE!! I have lost 43 lbs down 3 pant sizes and sometimes still complain . "Skinny" what a great word ! Take Care!! Summer 240/197/140

Hi Kay! Same thing over here I'm about 8 weeks out and to date I have only lost 34 lbs since surgery. I'm so addicted to weighing every morning, it will drive you nuts, but I just cant help myself. I have just statred walking about 30 min on the treadmill, I know I need to do better. I also could do better on getting my water in, its just some day's its so hard, but I know its just something I'm going to have to do. Good luck to you I'm sure we're pretty close to being right on schedule. Shelley Lap RNY 11/16/04 300/265/g160
