Hi November Sibs
Hi all,
Not a lot of changes to report here, I'm 10 days short of 2 months post-op and down -45.6lbs. ! I'm sure it'd be more if I could only walk further than 5-10 minutes at a time. *sigh*
Still in search of a couple of the vaccinations I need because of also loosing my spleen during surgery. Insurance co. is not wanting to pay for the scripts my PCP has written, they want PRE-APPROVAL on them, gee I thought that was what a script was, but NOPE! Some parts of this journey are getting old real fast, can I change my mind now? lol yeah right, too late for that one.
Still fighting to get meds/protein/fluids in each day, I feel like all I do is think about what next I have to put down my throat. I think about food more now that before surgery, I was never this pre-occupied with it before and ate healthy (most the time).
I found what is a new product to me on the grocery shelf AND I can get it down too (amazing) I'm so sick of eggs and oatmeal for breakfast I was looking hard and found what is made by Quaker called Q-Smart snack bars. Lowdown on them is:
Total fat= 6 g
Saturated fat =2 g
Trans Fat = 0 g
Cholesterol = 0 g
Sodium = 170 g
Total Carbs = 9 g (3 impact)
Dietary Fiber = 2 g
Sugars = 1 g
Sugar Alcohol =4 g
and Protein = 10 g
comes in different flavors/not a bad option from eggs IMH0

Wow sounds like you are doing great - I tired of a few things too - started eating real food recently & i throw up alot - eat too fast I'm sure, been trying to get enough protein - hate the shakes, most of the protein bars, Like the Odwalla Super protein drink - but at 3.00 a bottle - I don't buy them often. Can eat a scrambled egg, some cheese, cottage cheese, cream cheese, pimento cheese spread - but it's all so tiring... I'm not complaining - i love loosing the weight but finding food sources seems to be hard - and really I would prefer to just eat potatoes - NOT because I want them or like them all that much - but just because of everything they don't hurt - ever - and every time it hurts to eat something - I want to stop eating all together.... I don't but - that's how I feel.
Ah me - this is a good transition - just has it's negative moments.
Keep up the good work - will look into the Q-Smart bars - always looking for variation!
You are doing awesome! I am 2 months out yesterday ...down 50lbs as of today WOOOHOOOO .... things that I noticed which make a different in my weight loss (surgery - those iv's pump you full of fluids and the scale goes the wrong way) eating enough, otherwise it appears my body isn't going to budge a pound because it thinks I am starving it ...and getting in my protien, the scale moves when I drink at least one protien shake a day .... (which I need more variety- I like the Edge Advantage Chocolate Fudge from wal-mart, with a part of a banana and a spoon of pb) I also just ordered a full canister of the Syntrax Nectar Fuzzy Navel ...I really liked it ...eating - some days I just don't want to .... things I eat one day don't agree the next .... eggs I can handle ... the meat is iffy ... my tastes seem to keep changing ...anyone else's?
