Greetings November Brothers & Sisters!
I just found this Board with all my November siblings...how wonderful!
Just to introduce myself, I live in Santa Rosa, California and had my surgery in San Francisco at a major urban medical center.
I did not have a RNY but chose to have a newer surgery being pioneered by my docs call the VG or vertical "sleeve" gastrectomy. If you want more information about this and why I did it, see my profile.
I am doing great! Have had absolutely no problems, have never thrown up, and have lost 40 lbs in two months. I had to break down and buy a new pair of jeans MORE THAN TWO SIZES SMALLER than when I started. I am wearing them now and they feel great. This surgery is a miracle so far.
Anyway, just wanted to say hello. I have not been drinking enough liquids so I am dedicated to being better at that. Otherwise, its all good.
Jo
Hi Jo,
I'd like to welcome you to the November board. Glad to have you here. I see we had our surgerys on the same day. Even though they were different procedures, I noticed we both lost around the same. I lost 35 lbs so far. Congratulations to you and me
I look forward to more of your posts.

Hi Jo. Welcome to the board. I had my surgery on 11/10, as well and I'm pretty new here myself. Congratulations to you on your loss.
I haven't even bought new clothes yet, I've just unpacked all of the belts that I put away. I'm looking foward to trying on new clothes so I can find out what size I wear now. Wow... I wouldn't have expected to hear myself say that a few months ago.
Keep up the good work!
Thank so much for the warm welcome Christina.
I had a look at your profile and you're right...you ARE beautiful, but you are on your way to a healthier, wonderful new life.
What got me here wasn't wanting to wear a smaller size though...I was 57 years old and things were falling apart. I was 331 lbs and the knees hurt, the blood pressure was up, etc. It was just a matter of time.
Just 40 pounds down and I feel like a new, improved model. Nothing hurts anymore and I have so much energy! Not to mention the smaller pants.
I really wasn't ready to go shopping yet, but my black jeans I wear a lot were falling off me. I ran out and got the same pants in the size smaller!
My community has a clothing exchange for post-WLS surgery folks. I brought a bunch of clothes over, but didn't find much for me...guess I am just too fussy.
Best wishes to you in your journey...
Jo
Hi and welcome Jo. I too had surgery on 11/10 though I had the Lap RNY. I have to say I have thrown up and been happy to do it at the time. lol I am down 50 pounds and also bought the new jeans. Also my feet are shrinking. Anyway, good luck to you and all my November brothers and sisters. This board is the greatest. You will learn so much. I have. xoxo Alice

Hi Alice from Dallas,
50 pounds is a trmendous achievement!! Congratulations!!
Aren't the new jeans great? I started not being able to get into my old 28's. I have (what's the opposite of outgrown?) tossed those, tossed the 26's and have a brand, spanking new pair of 24's. They are the black stretch jeans from Avenue...same pants.
I met a woman the other day who had made the journey all the way into 16's...she said its all about Ross (discount store).
But for me...its all about the health and how much better I feel.
Best to you,
Jo from the California Sonoma Valley Wine Country
Welcome & hello to everyone! Sounds like we're alll at about the same place - had my surgery 11/11 - lost 44 so far - my feet have definately shrunk & so has my ass - I haven't bought any new clothes yet though I may need to break down & buy SOMETHING - cause all my clothes are only held up by my cell phone clipped to them and my underpants. Okay that I'm sure is an odd visual.
I am loving the loss - love that I've lost inches, hate that now that I can eat solid foods I throw up more often - I think I forget to chew chew chew & I still don't have a clue about what will go down easily.
Work is better - because i feel more focused & less concerned about how fat I look & will anyone take me seriously etc. etc. etc.
I am feeling tired though - need to get back on my vitamins - Hey - while I'm thinking about it - why don't I just chew one right now as a matter of fact!
Let's see - some folks say they notice the loss - some folks just fall all over themselves to compliment me - Come on now - really - I am not in charge of getting them a raise. Only have one person say - "Are you supposed to be eating that?" I just smiled & continued to chew.
Not getting my exercise in BUT I do park farther away & make several walking trips between my office and the other offices (a block or so away) rather than just making everyone else come to me.
I haven't lost my boobs yet - but they are starting to deflate a bit, am loosing my apron already - NOT sorry to see it go. It's become easier to put pantyhose on and I can stand up to put my socks on - My tailbone is hurting a bit - probably cause it's not as well padded anymore....
well I'm just rambling - Hope you all are enjoying ever moment of this experience!!!
Hi Jo,
It's me Summer from the Ca board!!! Are you going to make it to the dinner on FEb 12th Mimi's CAfe in Dublin? Kevin only had wonderful things to say about you after he met you. I want to meet you too. My bro in law lives in Santa Rosa so we visit every few months. I have yet to go wine tasting again in your area...but I'm still looking forward to doing it again.
