NEED SOME ADVICE AND SUPPORT PLEASE!!!!!!
Hello to TRANSPLANT NURSE and everyone else,
Thanks for the advice, it makes sense to me too. Thing is I am trying to increase my meals to 3 a day, but I will continue to supplement with the protein shakes. I use Syntrax Nectar. They are not thick and heavy, they are like fruit juice. They go down easily and don't make me overly full and I am assured I am getting my protein grams. I know protein values are different from nutritionist and doc, but mine suggests atleast 70 grams per day to avoid hair loss, muscle wasting, dry skin, etc. I know there is no way to get that many grams from a total of maybe 7 oz of food a day. I have turkey bacon for breakfast-2 grams protein per slice and I have three. Lunch and dinner are usually 1 oz of lettuce tidbits and protein-chicken, turkey, ham, cheese, etc. I know there can't be that much protein in that. I was suprised yesterday, I was at work and I actually got my 3 meals in without getting ill and about 10 pm I felt like I was hungry. So, I went and had a spoonful of peanut butter with sugar free jelly. I felt like "hurray for me", but don't want to get overly excited because it was only one day it was so good! I'll just continue to think positively and pray for it to get better with each passing day. I am going for my upper GI tomorrow, so after that I can be assured that there is nothing physically wrong with me, that I am just a little more sensitive and slower progress than some. Well, thanks again, your advice and support are great! Best of luck to you with your journey, although I am pretty sure you have a great handle on this because you seem to have a good head on your shoulders! Please let me know if ever I can be of any help or support to you! Thanks a million to everyone *****plied, it is more appreciated than you know!!!!
I am sorry to hear that things are not going too good for you at this point. Have you asked you Dr. if the band might be too tight? I hear that is what happens when the band is too tight, or that a person has eaten too much. I have never gotten sick yet. Actually I can eat anything at any time. I have lost 23 lbs in 6 weeks. Have you had a fill yet? I had my first fill last week and I can still eat three pieces of pizza at one sitting. I am concerned also because this is not normal after having a fill. I guess that people who have had their fills, can not eat but maybe 1/2 a piece of pizza and that is all. I can understand your frustration with this because I too am frustrated about being able to eat this much and I am thinking that I will not loose the weight. Yes, I did loose 23 lbs the first 6 weeks but who wouldn't with the eating of liquids and mushy foods, Right? Good Luck to you! Carrie
I know these things can be upsetting, hang in there. I have a big problem too, and that is I can eat anything and as much as I want, even after having a fill on my band. At least you know you will loose the weight when your body ajusts to everything, but with what I am able to eat I probably won't loose anymore weight than the first 23 pounds I lost before I could start on solids. Do you have any suggestions for me???

Hi Carrie,
Thanks for the reply ! Unfortunately, things are different for me because I don't have the lap band, I had the gastric bypass surgery. Wish I could give you advice, but sadly, I don't know enough about the banding to do so. All I can offer is my support and understanding of this battle with food and weight. I believe this is just one more test of life God is giving me to finally take control of my life and my habits. After all, we all support, encourage and want any kind of substance abusers to get help and get their addictions under control, right? It only makes our world unhealthy, unhappy and affects others around us too. Best of luck to you with your journey! Keep me updated on your progress!
