Feeling like a failure.

Hi everyone. I am 8 weeks out tomorrow and I am feeling quite down. During the first 4 weeks I lost about 24 pounds. During the last month I have only lost 7. What in the heck is wrong here??? I feel like this is not going to work for me. Shouldn't I be losing more than this? I am tracking all of my food intake on fitday and I am getting between 500-800 calories a day. I am drinking the water. I am taking the supplements. I am trying to exercise - although with my work schedule I am limited on time - but I am using the eliptical machine at least 2 times a week. What can I do to make this weight loss faster? I feel like this is not going to work for me and I went through all of this for nothing. Boo hoo hoo!!

You're not a failure! It will come off, in it's own sweet time Just think, Could you have lost 31 pounds in 8 weeks without the surgery? You're going to do GREAT! Donna

Shelly, You should check your carb intake. I also lost only 34 lb and had a surgery the day after you. There were weeks I did not loose anything. I called my doctor, he said that I am not being a good girl because I am eating carbs. I said: No way, I am not eating them. However, I checked more into my diet and did find the carbs I did not count. After eliminating that food, I lost 2 lb on the spot. In any case you should not feel the way you feel. Just do your stuff and you will eventually see the results. Lena

Shelley, you've got a lot of stress weighing on you honey. Don't add to it by worrying if you're losing enough at this stage. Are you sure you're eating enough protein? Remember eat protein first, then good carbs if you have room. Walk. Park further away from everything and walk every chance that you have. If you need a specific diet program, I'll share mine with you. Just contact me ([email protected]). I read some of your profile and you're just in a bad place right now. It will get better. Hang in there. xoxo Alice Alice From Dallas 11/10/2004 285/235/175

I think you are doing GREAT!!! Over 30 pounds in 8 weeks - that is excellent! But, I do know what you are feeling. I hit a couple of weeks with out loosing a thing and it really had started to get me down - but I now have lost another 7 pounds. We all just have to remember not to compare ourselves to each other - everyone is soooooo different! So, don't feel down - it will come back and you will loose the weight!! For me the best things are exercise and water! Good luck and keep your head up!! You are doing great!!!!!!!!!

Hi I had surgery the 18th of Nov. I had a 3 week stale mate. But I kicked up the water and walked more and added aerobics 2 times a week. I lost 2 since sat. My total is 36 now. Well we need to remember many of us weigh less or more than others. We are all different shapes too. Plus our height and age. I agree we could have never done this before. Just remember to support each other and am so happy we have a place to vent. Huggs Brenda

shelly --when the wieght coming off slows down alot of times inches are moving..........so make sure you do measurements too--becase that can be better feedback than the scales.........you are doing just fine.sometimes the body just slows up so that it can take off again...........keep getting your protein and drink your water! you are doing just great! hug rae

I'm 10 weeks out and i've lost 31lbs, I know exactly how you feel, it seems as though I should have lost more than this, although my clothes are loose on me, I want to see the scale move alittle more. I emailed my nurse and she told me that I'm right on track, my starting weight was 288 and i'm down to 257, I had surg. on 11-11-2005
