Is it just me or does anyone else have this problem of losing very slowly?
I had surgery on 11/15/04. First week lost 1 whole pound. By 2 weeks total of 6 lbs. I am now at week 8 and have lost only 22 lbs. I really thought it would be more now. I have tried the trick of "well I must be losing inches instead of lbs." but no, not me. I am 46, diabetic, and I exercise at least 6 days a week. I am also doing weight bearing exercises too. I know we shouldn't compare but we do. Don't get me wrong I'm glad 22 lbs. are gone but sheesh most people have lost more than me. Plus I feel like I can eat more than most. I had 2 1/2 oz. of steak, 1 oz. of cheese and about 1/2 cup vegetables for lunch today. And no I did not feel stuffed or get the feeling it was at my throat or whatever when people say they get the feeling they just can't eat one more bite. Any clues guys? I did talk to my doc's office about this losing thing at my last check up & they said I'm on track but to stay on track I need to be at 215 by the 29th of this month and right now I'm at 225.
Feeling down about this rate of loss

Debbie,
You are losing almost three pounds a week. (2.75 I estimate) so you have three weeks till the 29th so if you continue at this pace you will be right near 223. Right on course! You have to remember the more people weigh the more they lose. I have lost 60lbs since Nov 23rd, but I have a lot more to lose than you too. Keep up the good work!
Joe
Debbie, you are eating a lot more than me but I've lost 50 pounds since 11/10/2004 too. I eat until just before I feel full or I'll throw up. I usually have an egg for breakfast, maybe some tuna salad and crackers (5) for lunch and a protein drink somewhere in between there and dinner. For dinner I have about an ounce of something. So I eat small amounts but I eat 5 times a day. Between that and drinking, I'm busy. Also, drinking enough keeps me not hungry. One thing for sure is we are all individuals and as such we can't compare ourselves to each other. We also all had different surgeons and they see things differently too. Just hang in there and keep at it. One thing I could learn from you is the exercise. I'm exercising (walking) but need to do it more than 3 times a week. Good luck. xoxo Alice

I don't know if you have read the "Pouch Rules for Dummies" but you should! I learned a ton of information from that, that I was told but just didn't really get until I read it on there myself! I know the feeling of being down about weight loss and it seems to be a cycle - so try to keep your chin up I am sure you will stay on track!! You are doing great!!!!
