What is everyone taking as far as vitamins? I am taking 2 flintstone multi vitamins, 1 B-12, and calcium. I just want to make sure that I am getting everything I need, or if there is anything I am missing!?! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My doc has me on iron also... but I've heard good and bad about it. I only take it every other day, cause I don't want to get constipated! Make sure you're getting enough Thiamine, it's usually in a B suppliment, not always in the b-12's. Also, check your calcium, make sure it's calcium citrate, not carbonate. There is a difference. I take UPCalD it has a lot of vitamin D in it as well which is important. So, what I take is: Multi twice a day UpCalD powder twice a day B-12 with thiamine everyday iron every other day

FYI- You need Vitamin D present for calcium absorption, so check your calcium bottle for that. Also, anyone taking iron supplements, you need Vitamin C present for iron absorption. So either invest in some chewable vitamin c tablets and take at the same time or you can get it in the same supplement-called Vitron-C (pretty sure of name) or take your iron with a glass of diluted Splenda sweetend juice like Ocean Spray Cran-Grape-Ruby Red or Adam & Eve Splenda sweetend Cranberry-Raspberry. Flinstones levels are ok and Centrum chewables also. There are even better vitamins called Vista Vitamins specially formulated for gastric bypass patients, but they are a bit pricey. I suggest you go to their website. There is also another brand called Bariatric Advantage by Novartis. Check them out too. Also, to help with the constipation from iron supplements, try Benefiber sugar free fiber powder which mixes completely with liquid, try it with water, it will break down into nothing and has no taste, so you can mix it with almost anything. Hope these suggestions are helpful.
