Does anyone Know if we are suppose to worry about our carbs?
Are we suppose to worry about carbs? I found this web site www.fitday.com it counts your fats, proteins, sugars, carbs, calories. I love this site. But the problem is It looks I'm eating alot of carbs. My doctor said I can eat what I want but
Sugar no more then 2 grams per meal or snack
Fat no more then 13 grams per meal or snack
what do you guys think? Most of my carbs are coming from protein I only eat 1 piece of bread a day no rice no pasta. Help
Well, I think it just kind of depends on what your Dr. says. My Dr. says we have to watch our carbs. No bread, no rice or pasta. My cousin who had the surgery, her dr. had no recommendation...She could eat pasta, potatoes etc...and had no problems and lost almost all her weight. I go to fitday too when I remember, and I don't get many carbs at all, but for me, I am supposed to get near 65 proteins a day, which with what little I can eat, is about all I can eat. My meals consist mostly of proteins, and here and there I have a bite of some veggie or even a bite of potatoes. My Dr. said to eat all protein first, and then go to a TBSP or 2 of something else. I eat tuna quite frequently, and with that, I have a triscuit or 2. I will eat 2-2 1/2 ounces at a time, and eat the triscuits with it....I love triscuits now!!
3 should be protein and one should be carbs, but to try to stick to fruits and veggies that have carbs vs. the white stuff. I also love triscuits and I now love bagel chips that have 4g of protein per one ounce serving. I also have found Q-smart by Quaker these tasty mini rice cakes have 12g of protein in one-ounce, just like chips.
Anyway, I am wandering. I think you should follow your surgeon's plan, but I would eat your protein first.
Good Luck

My doctor says that carbs have the ability to absorb liquids very quickly. The new pouch cannot digest it properly, so when they they are passed into your intestines they dry them up quickly causing lots of pain and often dumping.
According to him, carbs are prohibited completely for me.
Honestly, I crave bread sometimes. I get a low carb bread in a local store and make a toast, however, I cannot finish even 1/4 of it and it often makes me sick. It is a waste of money for that bread, since my family does not want it, and I can eat only a couple of slices before it is no good any more. I tried pasta once, and OMG wasn't I sick!
Good luck to you!
