I am new to posting to this site. I had lap RNY 11/18/04 & have lost 44 lbs to date. I am pleased with that & have everything to be thankful for but I find myself so tired & depressed that I wonder if I will ever feel good again. I started back to work full time this week and I can hardly go. Am I abnormal?

Hi Hope, I don't think you are abnormal. It took a while before I started feeling like my oldself again. You have to remember that you are not taking in many calories and it is a lot for your body to adjust to. Keep eating your protein, drinking your water, and taking your vitamins and you will feel better in no time. Good Luck, Teresa

Thank you so much Teresa! I think I need to add more protein but finding it hard to do. Hopefully that will be better soon. I really needed that boost of confidence, thanks again. Good luck to you as well. Hope

Hope I had my RNY on November 1,2004 and to this day I'm tired but I did find a good tasting protein mix that seems to be doing better for me. It is called Isopure made byNature's Best Inc. The Creamy Vanilla is very good. I mix it in the blender with non fat milk and ice .instant milk shake. I have lost 52 pounds so far . Keep up the great work. Doris

I had RNY but I too was fatigued for a while. Especially the first week and a half back to work. My surgery was Nov. 22 and I was back to work after two weeks but I should have probably stayed home for two more. The most significant thing is to get your protein in! Here is my daily proteing shake 2 scoops of ProComplex protein powder (which I buy at vigurousliving.com for $38), a banana, and some soy milk along with several ice cubes blend till smooth and creamy. Sometimes I put in yogurt instead of a banana. In total I am getting around 65g of protein in the morning. This takes me about 2 hours to drink but I am full and I feel good and strong. Good luck! I'm so glad I'm not alone. How do you get in all the protein? Good luck to you!

Hi Hope, I had my surgery the 18th also. I am a teacher and went back full time Jan. 3rd. I am not so tired but I am on an antidepressant. So I feel it helped me. My doc believes in 2 meals a day protein only at this time. He does not want us ever to have protien drinks. I probably am not getting enough protien in but working on it. I have only lost 34 lbs and the scale has not moved in 3 weeks grrrrrrrrrrr. I am working on the water it has been only 40 oz. a day I am so trying for more. I did start step aerobics which will be 2 times a month and then I walked 45 min today. Tomorrow I am trying pilates with a friend to see if I want to try it on my own at home. Good Luck!!
