Questions
Does anyone know why they only expect you to loose a certain amount with surgery instead of your full goal? Example: My "ideal" weight is 165, but the charts say that I will only be able to loose down to 215. That stinks and I don't appreciate it telling me that! Of course, I will not believe it until I get there and will fight to get to my goal weight, but why is it that way??????
Question 2:
I am looking for a support group in Houston. Anyone out there know of one on the North side?
Question 3:
How do you get your picture on your postings?
Question 4:
Does anyone have a good "free" webpage site that you could recommend for me. I would like to chart my progress.
"Ya'll" are great and I truly appreciate the ability to get the support and answers I need to "life's" questions.

My best attempt at your questions (based on info I have been given and personal opinions)
1. The figures you have been given are based on averages.... the average pt can be expected to lose a certain percentage of excess weight... based on results from studies... the % is different depending on the type of surgery... You have the ability at any time not be average!
2. Sorry - have no info on Houston... try posting this question on the Texas board
3. Send a digital pic to obesity help volunteers who will put it on your profile page and posts if you like.
4. I hear that fitday.com is useful for a number of people... Have not tried it myself so cannot give a personal recommendation
Good luck

Hi Deb,
I agree with Sphinxy One on her answers and have no help regarding Houston area, but I just wanted to give you some other websites (if you meant you were looking for a web host to place personal stuff like images, etc. not just keeping track of what you eat).
Here's a small list of free web site hosts that I know of:
netfirms.com
yahoo.com (same as geocities.com)
fortunecity.com
www.tripod.lycos.com
homepages.msn.com
but all will place ads on your site and/or have other conditions for use. A lot of times you get free web space from your internet provider, so you might want to look into that as well
Hope this helps!
Jennifer
HI,
I just came across a web site www.fitday.com I love it. You can keep track of your weight loss, your calories, your protein, your fat. Check it out I love it. Good Luck Kay

Check out the Texas Local message board. There are several support groups in Houston and one that does meet on the Northside.
Good luck!
