8wks post-op still nausea
Couple of thoughts:
Are you taking pain meds or other medications? .... I found my liquid pain medication and my anti-lupus meds were making me feel like I wanted to puke.
Have you told your doc? Have you asked for something for nausea from the doc??? Sometimes they will give you a med that can help.
Ask for some medicine cups from the docs office or hospital. Drink about a half of one of these every 5 - 10 mins....in other words, very small amounts - often. Perhaps you are putting too much fluid in at once?
If all else fails, think of your fluids as medicine... you HAVE to get it in... take it in whatever form you can stomach it in.... if you only like apple juice... then dilute it if you can, and drink that.....popsicles? jello? hot tea (some people do better on warm than cold)... this is not an optional thing.... dehydration is a serious thing!
Good luck... Hang in there... Let us know how you are doing with this!

hi sphinxy one thank you the only meds i take are axid its like pepcid ive talked to my dr. several times he said its normal it will go away am still waiting. i am on my way to magee womens hospital to addmitted again for dehydration this is my second time so sick 24-7 that i dont want to drink or eat ive tried everything and nothing seems to work i hope after this time i can pull myself out of this and the nausea will be gone thanks.
Are you on Pepcid? My doc requires it for the first year to decrease chance of ulcers, and to decrease nausea. I have forgotten my dose so often that now if I get nauseous I immediatelly realize it's because I missed a dose of the Pepcid. It really helps me a lot! I take it every 12 hours, and don't usually experience severe nausea unless I skip a dose. Best wishes!

Definately ask for something for the nausea.. Also dehydration will make you feel nauseous. So, do that every five to ten minute half ounce of water trick and see if that helps. If you need to put yourself back on clear liquids for a few days just to get your pouch to relax and stop stressing over it because that will also keep you feeling sick. Try and find something to do that will help you relax before you put any food down.
I find that some days I have a bit of nausea and what actually helps is peppermint tea and just a little bit of food (try to sip some soup)!
Try warm liquids as opposed to cold ones. I can no longer drin**** cold liquid - it has to be room temp, warm or even better, hot - or else I feel ill.
Hope these suggestions help and best wishes to you!
Hi Rhonda,
I'm 6 weeks post-op and am having a endoscopy on Tuesday to check for an ulcer and a stricture. l had my one month follow up last week and told my surgeon how nauseous I was feeling all the time, plus I had spit up blood a few days before. He said the blood was probably from an ulcer, and the ongoing nausea from a stricture. I have that awful "stuck" feeling when eating anything remotely solid, such as scrambled egg, ricotta, or cottage cheese. He put me on prevacid 2x a day and metroclopramide (not sure about the spelling) for nausea, and both are working. I don't feel nearly as nauesous, thank god. However, the stuck feeling persists. I haven't been eating since my appointment, but tried literally one bite of egg on Saturday. It sat in my chest for about 2 hours before moving down. So, I'm just sticking to pudding, soup, and Carb Countdown chocoloate milk, and of course, Crystal Light. I know exactly how you feel. You really need to get with your surgeon and ask about a liquid antinausea med, as well as the possiblilty of a stricture or ulcer. The endoscopy, from what everyone tells me, is no big deal, as I'll be under a twilight anesthesia. Depending on what they find, my surgeon said, they would treat the ulcer first with meds before inflating the stricture, unless teh stricture is severe.
I really hope you get some help soon; it just sucks to feel like you have morning sickness all the time. I know I feel sooooo much better since I've been on the prevacid and anti-nausea. Please email me and let me know what happens.
Take care,
Heather
Hi Rhonda.
I am 7 weeks post op now and I had the same problem for the first couple of weeks. When I talked to the nutritionist she said I was not eating enough. It was a vicious cycle - feeling bad so I did not want to eat and not eating making me feel bad. I finally had to force myself to eat something (regardless of wanting to) every 3 hours. After the first day I felt a million times better and have not had the nausea since.
Good Luck!
Shelly
