I need to know...
I think every doctor has a different protocol. Right now, I know my doc doesn't want me to have popcorn or anything that may cause abrasions to the sensitive gut lining that he feels is still healing.
I don't think you have to do the applesauce thing forever. I checked with my doctor and I can now take my medication without crushing.
Hope this helps. I sure am glad that this board is here for us.... it seems we have the same questions coming up at about the same time.

Hi Colleen,
I was able to stop opening my capsules about a week ago, according to my doctor.. in fact, when I called the nurse and asked, she seemed surprised that I was still doing it.
Couldn't hurt to call the office and ask the nurse to call you back on that one..
As for popcorn.. I haven't had trouble with it.. *looks around innocently*

I replied to Michelle's popcorn question and I told her that I have eaten popcorn twice. I am 6 weeks post-op and even ate it at the movies and tolerated it fine. I had a junior bag. I think it just depends on the person and I think you will just have to try and see. Good Luck and I hope all goes well. As for the pills I think they want you to pour them out of the capsule so that you will absorb it better and faster. Might wanna ask your doc. Sorry not much help with that.
