Has anyone flown after WLS? I have an opportunity to go to Florida for a few days in January, which will be approximately 8 weeks post op. I am planning on calling my doctor, but I was just wondering if anyone else has flown after surgery.

Susan- I am flying on Friday. never thought about it being an issue although I am wondering about food. But the actual flying part should not make a difference. Let me know what your surgeon says, I didnt ask mine because I didnt think it would be an issue. Janet

I flew 9 days after my surgery and it wasn't an issue at all! My Dr. just told to me make sure to get up and walk around every 30 minutes and drink as much water as possible! It was nice, the seatbelt actually fastened!

I've flown 6 times since my surgery. The first flight was 3 weeks post-op and didn't have a bit of a problem. I even took my Dramamine, ate some crackers and cheese (that I brought) and drank quite a bit of water. It was fun! Have a great trip! Mary B. 240/202/150
