Hitting my stride

Hello, My I had laproscopic RNY done on 11-29-04. I am almost 4 weeks post op and feel that I am finally hitting my stride. I am still at stage 3 (was not getting enough protein or water) but my nutritionist suggested nuts and peanut butter and that is helping me to get where I need to be. Also, I am finally getting the liquids I need each day. It's amazing the difference you feel when you start meeting those daily requirements. For a while I felt so bad I was starting to doubt my decision but now things are much better. If you are considering the surgery don't rush yourself to be back on your feet in 7-10 days (believe it or not I thought I would). It takes time for your body to heal and for you to adjust to your new eating and drinking habits. The great news is that in the 3 weeks since I have had the surgery the dosage of my blood pressure medicine has been cut in half!

I ALSO HAD MY SURGERY ON THE 29TH! TOMORROW WILL BE ONE MONTH!!!!! I FEEL GREAT. THERE IS MORE VARIETY IN MY DIET. I HAVE NOT BEEN SICK AT ALL (NOT ONCE!!!) AND I HAVE SO MUCH MORE ENERGY. I STARTED FEELING REALLY GOOD ABOUT A WEEK AGO. I WASN'T GETTING IN ENOUGH OF ANYTHING... THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THINGS CHANGED. IT WAS VERY STRANGE BUT WONDERFUL. I EVEN HAD A SMALL CHRISTMAS DINNER... I WAS AFRAID I WOULD BE EATING GRITS OR SOMETHING FOR CHRISTMAS! I THINK I JUST RECOVERED WELL FROM THE SURGERY. I HAVE LOST 37 POUNDS, HAVE NOT BEEN SICK, WENT BACK TO WORK 2 WEEKS AFTER SURGERY AND I HAVE BEEN FINE. I DO GET TIRED AND SLEEP WELL AT NIGHT. BUT I FEEL 100% BETTER THAN I DID BEFORE THE SURGERY! I AM SO HAPPY I MADE THIS DECISION AND FOUGHT TO HAVE THIS DONE! JENNIFER WRIGHT

Hi, Yvette - to get adequate protein intake, try protein shakes. I like Isopure chocolate. Sugar free, Tastes good, not gritty, mixes well with things. Check it out @ Bariatriceating.com. I've noticed a big improvement in my energy level. - Good Luck! Martha Bell
